Recommend space and zombie games?

Post by Daehawk »

I know you are thinking..."This will be easy". Tons out there thats true. But with space games Ive probably played them and most likely own them all. Zombie games Im looking for a fun one that doesn't require other people to join up with. Ive tried for weeks to find and play or replay a space game but nothing is sticking. I just installed Darkstar One and we'll see how that goes. Im already dreading figuring out if mouse / kb will do or if I need to use my joystick. Zombie games are another matter. They are either too fast or require others to have fun. I just want a simple single player. And no not Dead State please as I had enough of that and I dont own DS2.

In fact nothing new in either field plz as I have no money and when I get some I plan to buy Odyssey.

Space and/or Zombie games that aren't new and/or are relatively inexpensive.

That's a HUGE net you're casting.

Some zombie games I've enjoyed recently include Final Station and Zombie Night Terror. The space game I've sunk the most time into in recent memory was Everspace. None of them is particularly inexpensive.

Is there any criteria to narrow it down? Are we talking space-themed builders - like Oxygen Not Included, space shooters like Elite: Dangerous, space tactical like Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock?

For zombies are we surviving them in FPS style, like State of Decay, or is it a city builder, like They Are Billions?

So the reflexive obvious response: SPAZ. You get pirates as a bonus!

My go-to zombie game is generally Dead Island. There was a lot to like about Dying Light, but I enjoy Dead Island more. Having distinct characters gives it more staying power.

Love SPAZ. One of my favorite games. Own SPAZ2 but not been able to get into it.

Hayed Dead Island. Disliked all of it but especially the item breakage. Loved Dying light up until the point I got sick of the item breakage.

Loved Dead State until I didn't.

Zombie and Space I prefer sim type or shooters. Dont want to build during the apocalypse or the Armageddon.

Ive installed both Dead Horde and Darkstar One to give a go. Ill look into the other games suggested here too. TY.

Not sure about that. Ill have to look into it. I tried a couple of those and really really hated them. But I tried the one set in Africa and loved it and finished it though I did have quibbles about it too.

So much for Dead Horde. It starts in a tiny little window box at 1024x768. I set it to 2560x1080 and it then is in the bottom right of my desktop and locks my mouse in. I cant see the UI to change it and I cant full screen it or move it. DELETE.

How to Survive, 1 or 2.

Haven't played the second, so can't comment. The first one had the same kind of move/aim as HellDivers, which is a turn off to me but probably a boon to others.
Sims 3 and signature unclear.

You make me shake my head in sadness, Dae. You remind me of Jerry in Seinfeld. He would date these perfect women, but then find some tiny, ridiculous little thing about them that would cause him to break up with them.

All I can say is, if item wear/breakage is causing you to dislike Dying Light and Dead Island, then you really aren't playing correctly.

Gameplay looks ok but the graphics look horribly old school. Plus I dont own it. And its not super cheap :) Ill keep an eye on it though. Maybe a friend knows about it. I know a guy who loves the old school graphics games well.

On the bright side, it's been in development for like 8 years.
