Yes, that's a strange title. But I've been following BG Ollie on YouTube for too long. This guy takes old game (and TV/movie) soundtracks and somehow makes them sound awesome on... banjo, accordian, and other not-what-you'd-expect instruments. Anyway, he has too few subscribers, so here you go.

Re: Old-school game soundtracks on banjo
I've loved banjo going back to Steve Martin and Roy Clark.
We have a local band fronted by a banjo player who do a quite a bit of 80s nostalgia and convert it to punk on such instruments usually while barking home made versions of carnival games.
I miss going out. They are *so* much fun.
Folk and punk just go hand in hand

He's put out five albums since 2009, four of them with the Steep Canyon Rangers and/or Edie Brickell.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Yeah, I've been following him too. He's pretty great and I'm always amazed at the arrangements that end up sounding almost exactly like the original tunes. I can't even wrap my head around having to record separate tracks.

OK, if we're gonna just post off-topic cool banjo dudes...I've been digging Jeff Pinkus, bassist for Butthole Surfers and Melvins and others, and his banjo songs:

I wish I had kept up with the banjo. Love playing, I just don’t have the dedication to keep practicing. And half-ass banjo sounds terrible.
