Ray tracing is the big buzz word of 2020 in PC gaming, and Nvidia have just announced another fresh batch of ray tracing and DLSS games, including a couple of old ones that will be getting support in future updates. To help you keep track of them all, I’ve created this list of all the confirmed ray tracing games you can play on PC right now, as well which of this year’s new PC games will get ray tracing and support in the future. And because ray tracing tends to go hand in hand with Nvidia’s performance-boosting DLSS tech these days, I’ve also listed all the current and upcoming games that support DLSS, too.

I have no idea what those two things even mean. Tells you how far out of the tech loop I am.
I just keep hur-durring along on my PS4, I suppose.

Games that take advantage of the RTX capability of the two most recent gen nvidia cards which makes the graphics more prettier. You've probably seen the RTX on/off memes that show the kind of differences nvidia wants us to think it makes.

Here's an on/off demo from a year and a half ago:
It really does look more realistic and beautiful when on. Many of the features are softened and given deeper perspective. But... it also looks just fine and how I expect games to look without. They're not night and day differences.
This has always been the case, but I think functional graphics and inspired art direction are far more important than fidelity. I can play non-stylized 3D games from 15-20 years ago and honestly still be impressed. It's only the stuff from 3D's infancy that can be jarring. Even then, it has its charms, and if the gameplay is good you're quickly going to adjust to the lack of detail.
I enjoy having state of the art tech as much as anyone else, but I think I've rarely every truly made use of it. I got the highest tier GPU of my life in this system a few years ago (GTX 1070 coupled with an i7-7700K), but outside of I'm sure continuing to enjoy decent performance in newer titles (when I actually play them), I've been just as happy as with all my budget and mid-tier builds over the years. Not to knock anyone's hobby if you're a graphics geek.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I don't mind older graphics. Hell, I just played System Shock 2 this year. The thing with less graphic detail is that your imagination fills in the holes. That makes the experience more personal and more catered to your own psyche. With that said, I've played a couple of RTX games. My personal opinion is that of all the 'new thing' releases over the years, this makes the biggest, most noticeable difference, especially with reflective surfaces. It takes a big step between imitating certain natural lighting effects (like shadows and reflections) through tricks, and actually rendering those effects based on the environment.

Quake II RTX will work with any version of Quake II, even the original retail CDs
(if you don't have a RTX-capable card, you can disable the raytracing and still get improved functionality on modern PCs)

I bought Quake II and downloaded RTX to see what it's about. It's okay.
