The devs say that they're going to port it over.

I will try it out for nostalgia only (I doubt I will go far), especially since some of them are free. Too much competition right now between the Bard's Tales and Legend of Grimrock!

Please let me know how they are. I'm wondering if the dungeon layouts are exact copies of the originals.

All righty then:
1. If I were you, I would not base a decision to buy or not buy a tablet on this version of what appears to be an almost exact replica of Wizardry.
2. This game is not only not made for tablets (at least not in iOS land), but it's not even universal (meaning that in order to play it on the iPad at a size any larger than an iPhone's screen, you will need to artificially double the size (uglifying the pixels). Not a big deal for this particular title, but just note that there will be lots of jaggies in the text even.
3. Note that this was created by a Japanese (I think?) fan, so you will see tons of misspellings (Hobit for Hobbit for instance) Doesn't particularly bother me, but gets some really riled up.
4. I can't comment on similarity (or not) to the mazes from the original, as the last time I played that was c. 1986 or 1987, but might as well have been 1287 for all my memory is worth. I would bet even the mazes are the same, as this appears to be an exact copy, with only some of the names changed to protect the guilty (Wizardry to Sorcerer, Proving Grounds of Mad Overlord to....Proving Grounds of Crazy Overlord (or something similar).
I spent way more time than I should have, having fun "rolling" characters, trying to get a ninja (didn't happen). It looks like they made some slight tweaks graphically, to the monsters (this depends on what format you played on I guess...for me it was an Apple IIe) and they do have a link to an online manual, but one thing that kind of drove me crazy was the lack of quick switching of the app, i.e. you are going through the dungeons, you click the iPhone home button to check your email, and come back to the Sorcerer app, which is now on the main screen (i.e you just lost all your progress).
I also died a horrible, swift death at the hands of some kobolds I think, only to find no way to be able to restore the party, which is perhaps the way the original worked, I don't recall. Anyhoo...I will definitely be sticking with Bard's Tale II for my old school RPG fare, as it's not nearly as rough around the edges as this title, and I just don't have the patience for both.
More of a trip down memory lane for me, as opposed to something that is awesomely fun while not mind numbingly maddening due to archaic UI design (or lack thereof) (for that, I can fill a similar need with Legends of Grimrock). Of course, playing Wizardy in my school's computer lab in 7th grade WAS awesomely fun...at the time...but it really does not translate well to 2012 of course, except for the most nostalgic hard core players.

I-9 doesn't work with this app. First thing I checked.

Very slick production values, and easy fun. RPG lite elements in terms of levelling up a few abilities: magic, might, health, and one other I think.

+1 Swordigo has become my favorite iPad app. It's even forced me to take a break from Battle Academy.
Excellent, excellent game.

Have you finished it? Just curious how long it runs on average. 6-8 hours or so maybe?

Suitably Ironic Moniker wrote:Pocket Planes includes a fair amount of strategic decisions on how to move the cargo and passengers, where to expand your coverage, which planes to buy, which airports to upgrade, etc., etc. Even though you have to wait for your planes to get to their locations before you can do some of things possible, the wait is extremely short in the first half of the game. It's when you get up to inter/intra-continental travel that the wait times increase and you won't have that for a while. It's not for everyone, but there's more to it than simply pressing a couple of buttons and moving on.
