If you use the destiny events tracker and stay in the areas on earth where they appear, I always go to either The Steppes and The Divide, the daily will happen. The timers on the event tracker go up to a -6 minutes on them happening, so even though it's "suppose" to happen on time, they go over alot and it can take up to 6 minutes over the due time, that showing as a -6 minutes on the tracker, for the event to take place. The "defeat extraction crew" is easier when you're higher than your current level.

At the lower levels you'll have your ass handed to you by the extraction crews, unless you're a really good shot, and use your super's to your advantage. Same goes for the "fallen devil walker" in The Divide. You'll die several times, even if you're playing against it with other players.

All my characters are level 31, and I can take out The Extraction Crews and The Devil Walker by myself solo.

The Extraction Crew drop ships always follow a pattern, and depending on what side of the map they first spawn on will determine the pattern.

In The Steppes, if the drop ship comes in from the side of the map with the underground bunker you'll get 3 drop ships.

If the drop ship comes in from the side of the map with the building you enter to go to The Divide, there will be 2 drop ships, and they both will hover very close TO that building.

Have fun...

House of Wolves, expansion 2 is set to be released on May 19th.

Who's still in the game?

New weapon's, New social area in The Reef, new vendors, new stuff for everyone. Yes I'm excited.

I've got over 1500 hrs in the game, still addicted. :D

Edited...today, patch 1.2.0 dropped, which added The Queens Bounties in the area where the
Iron Banner bounties vendor is usually located. There are 6 new Queens bounties, not all 6 have
been made available today, we're up to 4 being opened up, which could change to all 6 by later
on tonight, who knows?

Anyhoo, when you finish a bounty in the area where the battle takes place there's a loot chest that
you have to find. You're given an access key which lasts about a minute thirty, and good luck at
locating the chest. They aren't always close by, so it takes some hustle to find them.

Don't even think about trying to beat the bounty boss by yourself, as they're difficult and
time will run out, and they vanish in thin air.

So...have fun this weekend, I know what I'll be doing. :D

Still playing - mainly because I have at least 6 other real-life-friends that also play, so we have fun with multiplayer PVE. I did the Queen's Wrath bounty that takes place on Archer's Line. The boss was a dreg that we punched from a platform onto the air. He stayed in the air for about 10 seconds, firing at us and still taking damage from our shots before he appeared in the crater below. Then he teleported back onto the platform. Weird.

Anywho, saw the newest exploit to get multiple rewards from the ether chests - including the Treasure Key, which we need to get into Prison of Elders. Gonna try that tonight.

From what I've read on Destiny's reddit page, and a video I've seen on The Prison of Elders, the
treasure key is used AFTER you successfully complete this 3 man kill everything contest.

Once The Prison of Elders is completed, the floor on a circular platform opens up, and you drop
down and search for The Treasure chest. By completing Prison of Elders you get presented with a key, and you get that once a week till next weeks reset. Just like the Nightfall and it's once a week rewards, Prison of Elders is the same way, unless you're using a spare/extra treasure key.

IF you have extra keys, you are free to run it again during the same week, and you'll have access
to the treasure chest because you have extra keys.

There's a video somewhere on youtube of this sequence of events, it's somewhere on the Destiny
Reddit page.

One more thing on the treasure key, also picked up on reddit and through bungie's forums -

By having a treasure key it does not guarantee that the user will receive an exotic weapon or
armor, but there is the "chance" that it could happen.

More grinding....

Really loving the legendary sidearm that's the reward for the first HoW storyline mission. It's rapidly becoming my go-to special weapon, and I find myself switching to it even when I can just kill stuff with my primary.

Also bought the new Vanguard legendary scout rifle: One/one synestheste and tried my hand at re-rolling perks at the gunsmith. After three pulls of the slot machine I got full auto, explosive rounds, and hidden hand (improved target acquisition). Can't wait to try out full auto. Gonna try grinding the crucible to buy one of the new machine guns and re-rolling the perks on it.

Raydude, you are correct. That new Vestian Dynasty pistol kicks much boo-tay. It has a real Halo-esque
feel, or maybe sound to it. Like shooting the pistol sidearm in the first Halo.

For me Desitny has such a Halo feel to it, which it probably why I'm so addicted to it.

When Halo came out I played that game non-stop until I completed it. Suprised myself because it
was one of the few console games I was able to complete without using any cheat codes, probably
due to Bungie not releasing any on xbox.

That's why I love it as well. Coming from a PC gaming crowd I swore I'd never play a console FPS. But after seeing and playing Halo when it first came out I was hooked into the Halo-verse. Funny thing is, I've never gotten into any other console FPS.

Back to Vestian Dynasty - I notice that one of the gun's built-in perks is that it always spawns with reserve ammo. With a 15-bullet clip this totally overrides the scarcity of special ammo boxes in the Crucible. Last night I managed to get a K/D of 1.0 for the first time by mostly using the VD. I may grind Crucible while I still can before everyone starts packing the VD as their PVP special weapon.

I've gotten use to the screens where you're in space, flying to the next area, then it drops from the sky into the lower atmosphere. I use those for bathroom breaks and going to fridge to grab the next
bottle of coke.

Got around to playing house of wolves today, or whatever the second expansion is called. I don't think I would have except I pre-paid for both of them when I was first extremely into Destiny still. I have to say it is a much better DLC than the first one. Much better. Honestly the first one was weak, and not worth the money. Only played a couple of hours into the second one but I have to say already that I really like it so far. I think I will likely just play it a little then give it up again, but it is at least fun for now.

I'd hazard a guess and say a huge amount of people that played The Dark Below expansion have said after playing The House of Wolves expansion that HOW is way better than TDB.

Playing through all the storyline to get to The Prison of Elders was rough. I REALLY wanted to get through the story based missions in order to get to the treasure vault in The Prison of Elders runs.

I usually only do 1 Prison of Elders run a week, if that. I love it, it just stresses me out. I like playing it with the 2 other people that matchmaking throws at me, I just don't like the idea of having a bad round or two, dying and having to be resurrected. I'm a pretty good player at PVE, not a PVP player.

The thing that also bothers me is when the stats come up after each round I'm usually the person with the least amount of kills. I'm trying my best to get kills AND stay alive. Sometimes that means I'm trying to avoid being overwhelmed with enemies flooding the map that staying alive is keeping me on the run with racking up kills.

Next up in the future expansions is The Taken King, being released in Sept of 2015.

A new subclass is being added for each of the Guardians. Having seen the previews of the subclasses it looks pretty freakin awesome.

I finally broke down and got this on XB1 after a couple of co-workers convinced me that they had fixed a lot of the issues. It remains to be seen how much patience I'll have for the loot grind, but it's really fun so far. Played some Crucible matches last night and got 4 levels in an hour despite how hard I sucked. Still had a great time.

I play this with a bunch of friends on the PS3, most of whom have been playing much longer than I have. We went from having only 2 of 6 with Gjallahorn to 4 of 6. A friend and I both got Gjallahorn as a nightfall drop last week. Unfortunately it made one person a little bitter, since he's played the heck out of it since September and still no Gjallahorn drop. Instead he's got shotguns and fusion rifles up the wazoo.

Ahhh....the great Gjallahorn debate. To have or have not, that IS the question?

I've been playing since the beginning and I don't have one, but it doesn't keep me from playing and
enjoying the game. The way I look at it is when it's meant to be it will happen, getting it to drop in a nightfall or raid.

Either that or perhaps one early friday morning Xur will sell it. Xur's sold it once and only once, it week 3.

After running with the Vestian Dynasty in Prison of Elders and some nightfalls it was starting to feel a little underpowered. Until I ascended it and took it into this week's nightfall. Holy Crapola, I was dropping Fallen left and right with that thing! The bonus damage against Fallen + nightfall arc damage bonus + specialist bonus = kick so much Fallen. Too fun! I'm gonna take it into the the weekly heroic and see if it can take on the Hive w/ no damage bonuses.

Haha, no. I go with at least one other person and we try to make sure that at least one of us is running with a Warlock with fireborn. For the Taniks nightfall we try to maximize damage on Taniks every time he shows up, since he carries the damage through all the way to the final fight. Then at the last map, where we have to kill Taniks, we run into the room, turn left, run up and jump onto the platform on the left hand side, and unload all our rockets into Taniks - killing him before his minions appear.

SO....if you're still following this thread, and still playing Destiny, did you know that you can currently
buy specially marked cans of Redbull, and underneath the can pull tab lid there is a code that can be redeemed on redbull & bungie website giving you a BONUS XP consumable for use in Destiny.

Here's the website

http://quest.redbull.com/us/en

It's a 2 part process.

Once you input the code on redbull's site, you confirm it on Bungie's site.

After that's completed you login to Destiny and your XP consumable will be waiting for you
to claim at the postmaster in the Tower on Earth.

I've bought several cans (even though I don't drink redbull, can't stand the taste, and have used
the XP consumable for leveling up in game gear) It works.

Any reason for someone not interested in playing long hours of raids to start again?

I really had a good time with this, but couldn't stand the loot grind. Anything with the updates or DLC should I consider giving it another go?

When they released The House of Wolves expansion it added a few more what I'd call "episodic missions", they opened up a new social area in The Reef, where you get weekly bounties from one
of The Queens lackeys, and the big thing to do these days is The Prison of Elders, where you take on
wave after wave of assorted enemies, and then you do higher levels which result in higher levels of loot.

The game is still a loot grind. By doing the queens weekly bounties you have to go from level ZERO to higher levels to earn shaders, a queens ship, etc.

The new expansion The Taken King is releasing in 41 days, it's adding a new raid, there's a series of
new weapons being introduced, and a new area aboard the hive ship The Dreadnought, is being
promoted as the next big thing within the game where there will be hidden missions that the player has to find and activate, hidden loot, etc.

If you had a good time with the game all I can say is that I enjoyed both expansions, and I pretty much do daily bounties every day.

I visit Xur every friday, and I grind for Strange coins every week in order to buy whatever exotic he has for sale that I might not have.

If you haven't bought The Dark Below & The House of Wolves expansions and want to get back in you should wait till The Taken King is released and buy the game then, which will include all 3 in one bundled package disc set for $59.99

I don't do the raids or pvp. I've never run The Vault of Glass or Crota's End. I don't have 5 other people that I can coordinate with, plus the raids can be very time consuming. I know there are ways online that I can find other people to run with, but so far I haven't done so.

If you're wanting to get back into the game you should go to Bungie's website and go back and read on all the updates that have taken place, and the future plans for Destiny and see how the game has implemented changes and improvements since you left.

The other "big thing" that came with The House of Wolves expansion, is The Trials of Osiris, which is
a weekly 3 vs 3 pvp match, where you attempt to be the other team and IF you can win 9 matches you get transported to "the lighthouse" which is on a planet where you'll get uber rewards and loot.

This opens up on a weekly basis every friday, not sure when it closes out, probably late sunday night.

Forgot to put this in the previous post.

If you're into PVP this would be something I think you could get into.

Good Luck!

Apparently (from what my friend says) running raids from start to finish with the same group is no longer really done. People instead join or post group requests in destiny lfg and get together that way. Then folks drop out at specific checkpoints in the raid so that they can run it later with their own group or maybe they drop out to switch to another character to get the checkpoint for the alt.

In the same manner you could use lfg to look for a group that is already at the last part of the raid so you just have to play that.

Finally, I lucked out because the same friend ran Crota solo until the 2nd to last checkpoint. Then he invited us to join one night so we could all save the same checkpoint with all our characters. Then finished off Crota last night.

As a follow-on to my post above, my group of friends and I all thought that only the Raid leader's character had the save checkpoint, so if we wanted to go back to the raid where we left off we had to group up and be in that person's character's raid team. Turns out, this is not so. Everyone's character can save a checkpoint and the only thing that matters is the checkpoint that an individual character has saved.

What does this mean? It means I can join someone's raid (via the LFG website) when they are already in Vault of Glass at the Templar stage. After my character is "alive" in the stage I will get the checkpoint if the group wipes or if we pass that stage to the next stage. Wiping and respawning is key to enabling the checkpoint. When you join a raid in progress you do not spawn "alive" (you show up already dead). So the group has to all die, i.e. "wipe", then you all spawn back in and try that stage again. On the next wipe or successful passage of that stage your character gets a checkpoint at that stage.

So, I can join a LFG group that's already at the Templar stage in VOG. I spawn in dead. The group will wipe, in which case we will all respawn alive. If we wipe again on this stage I will have the Templar stage as my checkpoint. I could then go to orbit, go back into the VOG and I will spawn at the Templar stage by myself. I can then invite my friends to join me, or post on LFG that I'm at the Templar stage and wait for people to send me friend invites. Then a subset of those people do the same thing for the many other stages of the raid.

Then, say I have a group of friends and we're at the Templar stage. I can change my character to an alt, rejoin my friend's raid group, and be at the Templar stage with my alt. We wipe, then my alt has the Templar stage checkpoint. Then my friends could all round-robin and change to their alts and within minutes all our alts have the Templar checkpoint.

In short, LFG has just given you a way to skip parts of the raid that you don't want to do or don't have time to do AND given us a way to get three pulls at the slot machine for stages that give us loot (assuming we have 3 characters to round-robin the checkpoint with).

That's great info on checkpoints, etc, but for me personally I'd rather not go looking for people on LFG.

I'd rather play with people that I know aren't going to be horses asses.

I found a guy on xboxlive that I teamed up with and we do nightfalls and heroic's together, and he invited me to the group he does raids with. It was a nightmare. People ranged from pre-teens to
middle school to high school and they were on their mic's and wouldn't shut up about wrestling
practice and what time they had to be there, they weren't helpful at all in giving directions to the
new guy, ME...on what they wanted me to do and what area to cover. Fortunately for me they all
had things to do and they all bailed out, and that's when I left. Managed to get 2 loot chests and
1 cool robe for my hunter.

What I'd really like is to get an OO' Destiny raid group together. IF...that's possible and IF anyone
has raid experience. I have zero, so basically if you've got the experience you'd be teaching me and
others the in's and out's of Vault of Glass & Crota.

I've watched plenty of walkthrough videos on VOG & Crota, so I have a general idea of what's going on, but I'm definitely not the know-it-all on raids, and if you're the sherpa type of guide, that's what I need.

My xbox1 handle is JWS64, add me if you want, even if it's for running nightfalls and other stuff
in Destiny.

I've got a level 32 Titan, level 32 Warlock, level 32 Hunter.

Currently I'd like to do ALL the Prison of Elders levels beyond the first one, if anyone is up for that
also.

I have mic, will keep the conversation light and too a minimum if needed, don't use profanity unless
others want to let the expletives fly be my guest. I'm about having fun, but I also want to finish the objective(s) and get tha' loot that's up for looting.

Thanks!

House of Wolves most definitely. It opens up The Reef area, and has The Prison of Elders
area, and with this the ability to gain loot from the gold vault. Also contains new bounties
from the queen's representative Petra Venj.

It would be cool to have an OO group going. Sadly I think I'm in the minority in that I play on the PS3. It is funny that it took a console game to get my friends and I (who previously were PC only gamers) to play on a console. And since the majority of my friends had PS3's (to watch blu-ray movies) that became the console of choice.

Although it seems we will again be splitting up, since half of the group already migrated to the PS4 though I suspect the other half will probably follow by Christmas. I don't think I can get the PS4 (and its price) past my wife so it will probably be back to PC gaming for me after that. Oh well, I still have to finish New Vegas and just got sucked into World of Warships, so it's all good.

I preordered the new expansion today. I enjoyed the original enough for me to warrant getting the 3 expansion.

I also like what I'm seeing in the changes to come. It's enough to justify getting the legendary edition that includes all 3 expansions

For you pc gamers, you "might" be seeing Destiny coming to your PC in the future...maybe?

I also like what I'm seeing in the changes to come. It's enough to justify getting the legendary edition that includes all 3 expansions
Same here. I enjoyed the original, and the huge write up on Taken King in the Game Informer this month sold me. Nothing like eight pages of in-depth, paid advertising!!! :)

Sooooo, I received a nice gift from my mother-in-law of $300. Went out and bought a PS4 Destiny/Batman bundle. Looks like I'll be joining my friends on the PS4 w/ Taken King after all. Anyone else here playing on the PS4?

I am. My play times are sporadic and most of the time not scheduled. However, add me to your friends list and let me know if you have something scheduled and I'll tell you if I can make it. Looking forward to the expansion.

Most Excellent! No worries. I have two young kids so I know about sporadic playtimes. I've managed to carve out blocks of time Friday nights and Sat/Sunday afternoons but even those could be interrupted by the chillins.

JWS64 - xbox live

JWS664 - psn (got the PS4 about a month ago for all the exclusive Destiny content, free copy of Batman Arkham Knight, which I have yet to even open)

On Sept. 8th - Destiny update 2.0 goes into effect. If you want to be prepared for Sept. 15 with the release of The Taken King, update your console on the 8th.

You will no longer hear the ghost voice of Peter Dinklage, his voice and every scene his voice was in has all be redone. I've read it will take effect with update 2.0

I'm sure there will be other suprises in this update, damn exciting time to be a Destiny player.

Anyone adding me to their friends list and I'll be doing the same.

I've been playing the plain old Destiny trial on PS4, having shied way from it for quite some time, and have been quite enjoying it so I'll definitely pick up The Taken King upon release. I seem to be really in the mood for shooters these days.

I really like the game because a casual and mediocre gamer like myself can pick it up without having played for weeks and be productive.

The mechanics are simplified and easy to jump back into even if you haven't played regularly, like myself.

I played a little last week, but having just the original game and no extra content is repetitive. Really looking forward to the expansion.

However, I might preorder The Taken King bundle digitally and play through the other DLC while I wait for the Taken King to release.
