PS4 headset cable adaptor

Post by Daehawk »

Guys my headset..Sennheiser G4ME ZERO has 2 plugs on it...1 for headset and 1 for mic. But the PS4 only had 1 plug in the controller.

Is this what I need? A TRRS cable?

I play my PS4 on my monitor. My audio comes through the HDMI. My monitor has bot ha headset plug and a mic plug on the back but only the sound one works in the config its using.

So I tried my controller plug. I can hear it or I can talk in it but not both at once since its one plug and I need two. So Im hoping if I use a TRRS cable it will combine them.

Damnit Daehawk....idiot didn't post what he bought or where. Now I need to replace the working one with the same one because wires broke from being plugged in and out a lot .....and I have no idea where or what I bought. I dont want to waste cash on a non working again. Sigh. I see on Amazon one I bought but its not quiet the same looking one. I dont know if its wrong or the pic is wrong or they updated their design. I buy from Amazon Walmart and Newgg. Nothing showing. Grrr.

The PS4 Headphone Jack is a Four-Conductor 3.5MM (Read Standard Earbud) TRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve) connector with stereo audio and a mic channel. It is the same 3.5 Jack that comes with most Smartphones these days, the ones that have the mic along the wire. Most of those should work with the PS4 if the pin setup is standard (Nokia) for TRRS connections.

Because Apple thinks they're smart, the Apple earbuds with the mic won't work (because Apple's so smart they reversed them to make you always have to buy from them. Non-apple sets should work.
i ran into this issue while trying to make a programming cable for my Baofeng transceiver - TRRS does NOT have standardized wiring. that's why trying to find one that actually works is not easy (since third-party sellers may have no idea what they're actually selling.) you can use a voltmeter on the tip and various rings (and sleeve) to see which goes where.

Doh monoprice. Should have checked there first. I LOVE their products.

This time it turned out to be the Amazon one. Their pic is different from the actual product....but it works fine.
