If it's a video game it goes here.

Playstation Classic

Post by Skinypupy »

Following in the footsteps of Nintendo and Sega, Sony is releasing a "Playstation Classic" console. A smaller version of the console with 20 pre-loaded games including FF VII, Tekken, Wild Arms, Ridge Racer, and more TBD. I've ignored most of these console reboots, but am definitely in for this one.

I don't understand the purpose of the wired controllers with super-short cords though. Who in their right mind thinks that's a good idea?

$99.

I'll probably wait to see what other games are announced before pulling the trigger, since quite a few are available via other formats. If they have a bunch that I can't get anywhere other than futzing with emulators (something I've never wanted to do), then it'd be worth it.

Playstation Classic

Man they had good star wars games on the original Xbox. Why nobody has made a good rpg like Kotor since then is beyond me. Star wars is bigger than ever right now and yet no big well done rpg.

In terms of PlayStation classic... Seems too soon for me. But maybe I'm wrong.

They have a similar service on PS4, but it's 99% PS3 games. Very little from the PS2 and I don't think there's anything from PS1.

For me, the PS1 era is the hardest to go back to. 2D sprites will always look good but first generation 3D is just hideous and roaming around empty 3D worlds with often clunky control schemes is a hard sell.

That looks dull as hell. Even Pitfall was more engaging.

I vividly remember that Smurfs game because the first time I saw it i went over to a parent's friend's house and her son was playing it. I had an Atari 2600 and was BLOWN AWAY by the graphics of the Colecovision. I left feeling completely jealous and deflated at my rinky dink 2600 compared to that magnificent machine.

It really was extraordinary for a time when the 2600 was still rendering square basketballs.
