It's probably better to get knocked in the noggin by a collapsing sign pole than to have taken the forces of the car that stopped only because there was sign pole in the way.

That sign did nothing to stop the car. It just served to poleaxe the guy who made the wrong decision to run into the only danger there was at that point.

He could have dodged to his left or right, and right meant running into the street. While we know he would have been safe, what pedestrian bolts into the street to avoid an oncoming car?

I mean, I get your point; but I'd very much like to think I'd have jinked-or-jived the other way.

But, I must say, that rapidly compressed/folded street-sign-head-chopper looks almost worse (outcome wise) than being punted by a bumper.

That "decision" is more about instinct than choice as it has to be made almost instantaneously. Im pretty sure instinct would have you running towards any possible cover rather than into the street and traffic.

Beautiful valley. Dont get why they half assed the road. If you're going to build one just make it a bit wider..its a little more work ya. They seemed to say "Im tired and going home now"

White Rim road at Canyonlands has some pretty hairy sections as well. There was one part equally narrow and way steep going up a mesa with insane vertical, cliff to fall off on the side all on a small narrow shelf road. It was terrifying. And then we found out that our plan to just drive White Rim in a day (hey, only 70 miles, perfect for a day trip we thought lol) was completely high (most take 3 days to do it and have lots of extra gas), so we had to turn around and do said scary mesa section again. I did not enjoy lol.

at #3 I practiced until I figured out how one could do it. You need to put two fingers up to your mouth and let them seal your mouth - removing them while you say 'P', the whole while your mouth just remains in it's normal slightly open/pursed state.

I noticed 5 was missing and then it all fell apart for me.

The thought of another showing up was definitely no bueno. It was steep enough that slipping would happen if you stopped and you had better have low gear.
