Young founded the Australian rock band with his brother Angus in 1973. He was the group's rhythm guitarist until 2014, when the band announced he was taking a leave of absence for health reasons. It was later revealed he had been diagnosed for dementia.
Young's family said he passed away peacefully Saturday with his family at his bedside. He is survived by his wife O'Linda and two children.

Never been much of a fan, but it’s impossible to deny AC/DC’s influence on rock.

Knew it would kill him but had no idea it would be so fast. Too young. RIP man.

Re: RIP: Malcolm Young, AC/DC
I know it has nothing to do with it but out of the two I always figured Angus would have some kind of brain problem the way he bops his head the entire time he plays music.
And although Paul Stanley has been weird in the last few years he did post what I think is the best Twit Ive seen on Malcolm's death.....

The rest of the band looked to Malcolm for timings and cuts. The driving engine of AC/DC has died.A tragic end for a sometimes unsung icon. One of the true greats. RIP.
