CONGRATULATIONS RED SOX!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Right now, down on W.103rd St & Broadway, NYC, ecstatic Boston fans are shouting "BOS-TON! RED-SOX! BOS-TON! RED-SOX!" I can hear them all over the upper west side.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

God, the interviewer on Fox is the WORST I've seen in a long time.

Boston wins their first World Series in 86 years and she starts asking questions about free agents.

Congrats to the Sox. I am embarassed to be a Cards fan at the moment. The fucking Expos would have mopped us up this series. at least it is over quickly.

Yeah, as dramatic as the ALCS and NLCS series were, this was a rather dull World Series. I didn't really care who won either way, but it would have been nice for the games to at least be exciting. At least the Cards fans didn't sit in a complete catatonic silence this game.

My wife and I were wondering if any Boston fans would have preferred the series go to 6 or 7 games, just so the Sox could have won it all in Boston, or if it just doesn't matter.

After 86 years I'd guess they 'd be happy if they won the final game on Mars.

Yeah, Freezer, that's the one. Lovely sentiment.

Got me remembering my grandmother who was an avid Red Sox fan. I remember she always used to take her little portable radio outside to listen to the Red Sox games while she did her gardening. She's one of those New Englanders they talk about when they say a whole generation came and went without seeing the Red Sox win the Series.

Thinking of you, Gram!

Congrats to the Red Sox and their fans. You guys deserved it.

Yeah, it is a bit embarassing to be a Cardinals fan right now. Getting swept in the WS isn't fun. Oh well, life goes on. I'm just glad (or should I be sad?) that I'm not in boston tonight. ;)

I'm drunker 'n shit right now, but Grats, Sox fans!

And for you Cardinal fans whining about being embarrassed by our 112-win team--piss off. You got no idea what you're talking about.

In 1985, I felt like shit for weeks--months, when we lost to the fucking Royals. Why? Because we were clearly and demonstrably a better team. It was awful, and felt like an albatross around the neck of the franchise that would never go away.

1987 sucked, but you could see the suckage coming a mile off. No way was that Cardinal team, deprived of Jack Clark, going to win a game in the Homerdome. Whatever.

This feels...different. We had basically our full squad, minus Carp and Kline, and you know what? Boston still out-hit, out-pitched, out-fielded, and even ran the bases better than we did, especially after game 1. The '27 Yankees weren't gonna deprive this Red Sox team of a championship this year. That is one special Boston squad.

My Cardinals are also special, and they'll be back. No bitching, no whining, no nothing from here though. I'm proud of my squad, and I'm sorry they lost, but...whatever. For a team picked to finish third, I got more than my fair share of happy, happy memories from the '04 version of the Birds on the Bat. In fact, at the smorgasbord of happy basebally memories, this year I just pigged out and they kept inviting me back for more.

BTW--have I mentioned that I love Blueberry Hill? And beer? MMMmmmmm.

86 times for 86 years. I know I was only two when the Red Sox last lost the Series, but I've been a big fan my entire life and I'm still completely shell shocked and in total awe. I jumped up and down and screamed my lungs out when Foulke made that last out. It turns out we were actually drinking the same champagne that the Red Sox had (well the labels looked damn identical) though I'm not nearly as blasted as any of those guys are going to be tonight. This team went on a remarkable run these last eight games and those memories (and the commemorative DVD that will probably be out in 2 hours next to the t-shirts) are going to last for generations in this town.

Holy fucking shit, the Red Sox just won the World friggin' Series.

Now it's time to start chanting "Twoooooo-thousand" at the Yankees! Fuck 1918, fuck the obnoxious Yankee fans, and fuck the Yankees. It's our turn to be total (M)assholes!

As a proud member of Red Sox Nation for 19 years, I can't express how great this feels. But, to paraphrase Peter Gammons, you don't know just how great it feels unless you're actually from New England. So congratulations to Kelric and the other New Englanders on the board, you deserve to celebrate more than anyone. I'm so happy for Boston right now - I love the city, the people, Fenway and the Sox! :D By far the most amazing sports story I've ever seen.

I watched the Red Sox lose to Cincy in Game 7 after Fisk's homer in 6...

I watched the Red Sox lose a 14 game Divisional lead in '78...

I watched F*** Bucky Dent...

I watched Bill Buckner...

I watched the Red Sox lose a 3-0 lead to the Mets to lose Game 7...

I watched the Red Sox lose a 5-2 lead in the 8th to the Yankees in 2003...

I watched F*** Aaron Boone...

I watched the Red Sox win the World Series last night. Life is good.

There is no joy in Budville, for the mighty Cards have struck out.

Sigh. Well, this just continued the depressing downward spiral of my week. But, the way I look at it, it took a full moon with a lunar eclipse to break the Sox curse.

Who am I kidding? The Redbirds just weren't there.

I did make it to Bush for a game this year, with my brother, my dad, and my grandfather...first time in 30 some years that we did that as a family. Wish my son was a bit older, so we could have done a "four generations of Cards fans" thing. But that will stand out in my memory for a long, long time...a great game on a perfect day at the ballpark.

Congratulations to the Sox, and thank you for now making the Cubs the most losing team in baseball!

This is just an amazing feeling. The Red Sox won the World Series!

The icing on the cake; no more '1918' chants. No more bogus talk about a non-existant curse.

Still just taking it in. It does not quite feel real yet.
