Ahh, noisy neighbors. Now wheres my shotgun..

Post by Ranulf »

So apparently the guys who live in the apartment above me haven't gotten the message that loud talking, yelling, and music playing late at night is unpleasant. I've already complained to the management once. Bastards were loud at 5am this morning. I wake up and they have their windows all open, I can hear their conversations and occasionally I hear their damn tv. After only 3 hours of sleep the night before I really don't need this crap.

On the upside, there is no one at the grocery store at 5am. Makes it real easy to get the shopping done fast.

Man, you've gotten so uppity. You've priced yourself right out of the market. I remember the days when you would kill a man for a bottle of Jack and a dusty box of old porn mags from the basement. I just don't know you any more.

I'm just saying, I wrote the same thing Quipp wrote, though I used a hyperlink to point to Mr. Fed's thread about getting rid of a gun. Should've posted a smiley.

Oh, I get it - sorry, thought you were objecting to someone's post in the thread and for the life of me I couldn't figure out which one.

I will punish myself for misunderstanding you with a cat butt:

My apartment sits next to a bunch of art studios and directly over a gallery. Doesn't get much quieter than that.

My steam heat, on the other hand, makes the most ridiculously loud sounds in the middle of the night.

Aha! Found the other place you folks have been hiding!

Anyway, I'm in a similar situation Ranulf. The apartments we're in are quite nice and even have soundproofing. However, the one drawback to this place is the neighbors above us. They are horridly loud and seem oblivious that people live above and next to them. And if there's one thing that gets on my nerves fast it's noise. They are a young (she's 19, he's 21) couple with a toddler and another on the way. The guy doesn't know how to walk like a normal person apparently as he STOMPS around the place all day, and his little protege has picked up on it also and does the same, with the occasional "lay on the floor and kick as hard as you can" tantrum. They walk so hard I can actually feel it when sitting on my couch, and it has knocked some of my pictures crooked. But, I'm patient, so I put up with it during the day.

But they really get loud at night, normally 11pm. Our apartment has rules saying to be quiet after 10pm. Normally I go to bed at 9 am as I get up at 4 every morning for work. Without fail these idiots start having a fight around 11 which involves much stomping of their feet and much gnashing of my teeth. Then they are usually sure to drop something heavy right above our bed just to make sure we know they are there. Then the kid has to run around screaming and find his way into the bathroom, where he demonstrates his talent at slamming a toilet lid over and over and over. White trash daddy must be proud. Oh, and one of em, not sure who, excersises by walking back and forth for half an hour in the bedroom, normally at 11pm at night!

I have lived with folks who played music loudly, but for some reason these guys irritate me much more. So far all weve done is POUND(!) on the ceiling when they get loud at night like this. It works, for that night. Without fail they are at it again next night. What gets me is the apartment manager lives right next to them. I haven't complained to management yet as A) I don't think it will help, and B) I don't want my tires slashed. But I'm at my wits end with these guys.

When do your neighbors sleep? If they stay up late I'd bet well in to the morning. That is when you should play some music loud. It will work best if its something they will not like. Oh and try and get the yard ape up too.
You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton. I never saved anything for the swim back!

Aye, it sucks. The folks across from me used to be fairly bad until a few complained (namely me) about them having a mini b-ball hoop bolted to the stairs. This one kid had like a yell that sounded like he was mortally wounded whenever he'd miss a shot or something. This family is fairly nice but also major white trash at times. I had to step lightly because I didn't want the kids deciding my truck's tires needed to go flat or a nice new key job as my truck is right in front of their apartment. I don't want to have to move again to another place in town but I'm seriously thinking about it next spring.
