Who's your daddy?

(We don't actually know that today is the birthday of Dungeons and Dragons. This was a convenient pagan holiday which had a similar theme. It has been named the anniversary to keep the pagans happy.)

I used to have that. I sold it, along with my funky dice, library of hard cover books, a few modules (I usually created my own), and about 5 years worth of Dragon magazines to a local cop for $75 back in the mid-80's.

Altho I never played that or any of the role playing games I used to paint the figures for those who did.
I was,and still am,the wargamer type.I must have had 100 boardgames and 20,000 painted miniature figurines.

I'm just pleased they managed to present a Dungeon AND a Dragon on the cover, you know - just to make sure.

Oh, and I hope magic girl has a res scroll or something because that little twig of a fighter's about to bite it.

Me too. I haven't seen that cover art in years! I still roleplay online with friends as our gaming group has become somewhat scattered over the years though.

I got that basic set for Christmas one year with the basic module The Keep on the Borderlands. I enjoyed reading through it all and even making a small module/dungeon myself, but I never really played it with anyone.

I seem to remember back then that elves were a class, not a race (there were no separate "races" for PCs). For characters I think you had a choice of fighter, thief, magic user, cleric, and elf. Maybe also dwarf?

Oh, yeah. That bad picture of the Red Dragon brings it all back.

I still have all of those books in a box somewhere. Amazing to compare the 3.5 ed ruleset to the originals.

Are you sure? I could have swore that there was a cover done in all blues that was the original.

This one? Looks like the rulebook cover was mono-blue, while the box cover was the one noted above. Check them all out here:
