Uh, no. Although I do plan to pay attention to the goddamned road while Autopilot is engaged.

...and don’t jam oranges into your steering wheel.

Congrats, Zaxxon! I look forward to seeing some pictures. I saw my first Model 3 in the wild yesterday morning driving to work. It was blue, the color I was thinking of getting. I’m still probably months away from an invite and I’m driving my wife crazy just watching YouTube videos of people picking up their cars and driving around.

I went back a previous page, congrats to you too Jaymann. I really like that color combination with the aero wheels.

3-6 week window for you both? Previously it was 4 weeks but probably the more East they go the window is longer.

I will enjoy this journey with you and look forward to updates. Funny how we waited two years but these last few weeks will almost be unbearable.

Yes, 3-6. And I agree that this part will be the most excruciating.

Yes, excessive automation at Tesla was a mistake. To be precise, my mistake. Humans are underrated.

The Center for Investigative Reporting and Reveal have found some issues with injury reporting at Tesla, which also seems to show that Tesla is around 30% worse than the industry average for workplace injuries. Tesla Corp has responded and now the Verge has an article. I am downloading the podcast from Reveal to give it a listen now.

Got an email today regarding delivery of my Model 3! Apparently Musk sleeping on the factory floor created some motivation. Had to send some more information, but hoping to pick up in the next day or so!

Try not to think about all those mangled workers that went into making it.

How am I jealous of a guy getting a car that I decided I wasn't interested in?

I don't think many people decide they're not interested in a Model 3. Just that they're not willing to pay for it at this time.

If I got that car, I'd name it "The Tesla". It would go nicely with my current cars "The Audi" and "The Van".

Seems like a recipe for disaster -- increased pressure with a directive to ignore the chain of command, not meet and not spend to fix problems without the head boss' approval. Plus, fire all your parts suppliers who can't deliver more quantity with less error. At the same time you hire another shift to run 24/7.

Maybe he'll pull it off, but it seems like time's almost up.

Howes: Complacency amps stress in Tesla Model 3 launch

The comments are as informative as the story itself.

As much as I admire Elon Musk, I wonder if he needs to consider that there might be some things he's not good at, and making cars might be one of those things. Maybe his time and money would be better applied to hyperloops or The Boring Company, or doubling down on SpaceX (not that I think that company can be pushed any harder). If his motive behind Tesla was to make the world a better place by mainstreaming EVs, maybe he's already succeeded at that by pushing the rest of the industry.

Not that I'm writing Tesla off.

If he'd just get a COO I think that'd go a long way. Someone to tell Musk when he's being ridiculous, and to handle or filter some of the stuff he doesn't need to be dealing with but insists on doing. For some reason Tesla has never gone that route.

I would say that Musk is that reason, but he effectively lets Gwynne Shotwell handle that role at SpaceX and I'm pretty sure SpaceX is better off for it.
