/me opens calculator: I was 27, and I also thought Picard was ancient.

I remember after moving up to Arkansas in 1987 they came out with STNG. I remember being excited by the commercials. I was 38 then.

When STNG premiered, I bought our first-ever color TV and a VCR. I hadn't owned a TV at all for several years prior to that.

Wil is only a few months older than me, so yeah - him being 47 is scary.

I think my first real exposure to TNG was slightly after the announcement before my Freshman year of high school. I remember reading about all the cast in a special in TV guide. And yes, Stewart looked ancient. And yes, I'm the same age he was now, too.

I had no idea STTNG existed until 1989. I met the girl who would be my wife some day in 1987 so was a little busy with stuff :) . We were working for a political candidate at a rally / dinner for him at a big hotel up the highway. I kinda wandered away from the food room and sat down in front of a tv that was playing something sci-fi looking. Hey wait those are phasers...and thats a Starfleet uniform of some sort. Turns out it was STTNG. I watched from then on at home but it was on the local PBS station and was UHF for me. We didn't have cable yet. So I had to make my own round little antennae for it from a coat hanger. Was a snowy watch each week but I never missed it. I caught up to the first 2 seasons somehow in that time.
