I'm not so sure that Charlie Chan at the Opera couldn't be remade so much as wouldn't be remade (the plot is too dated, if nothing else). On the one hand, you'd have to cast an Asian as Charlie Chan, but on the other hand Charlie Chan is pretty much the poster boy for Hollywood whitewashing and stereotyping so I can see how the character itself might be protest-bait. On the gripping hand, I do think there is potential for a parody/comedy Charlie Chan film.

I think it might be possible to do a Charlie Chan comedy-detective reboot with Asian/Asian-American actors and with an eye towards deflating the stereotypes that drove the original.

Could be good with the right writers. Give it to Alan Yang?

I guess I could keep on going (there are a lot of good scenes to pick from), but if nobody got it from the picture of the featured players, I reckon it ain't gonna be got at all.

Directed by Frank Capra, Prelude to War is the first in the Why We Fight film series. It is definitely a wartime indoctrination/propaganda film, but in many ways it still feels very timely in 2017.
