I've officially become a grumpy old man.

Do it. I've asked to switch rooms before too. Annoying once you've settled in, but in the long run it will save you sleep and resentment.

Just got a new room and a free breakfast tomorrow. Being grumpy apparently pays off!

Yeah, that's far too often.

We just aren't talky people (I talked to my brother on the phone on Sunday for the first time since I visited in Denver a few years ago. We spent twenty minutes in silence. Ask raven or remus how much I talk on the phone when I'm on the phone and how painful it must sound to the other end to listen to me) and of course "The cat in the cradle and the silver spoon..." it's very easy to be wrapped in our individual lives and not think "Have I called my parents and sat there in awkward silence for a half an hour this week?"

Going to be a long day.

If you were up at midnight, you should have made the change then!

I guess you are going to be disappointed and so are they. I don't know who didn't give me at least two month's lead time for that kind of requirement but if I find out who that person is they will have my impudent yet powerless annoyance to deal with for as long we have to work with each other in the future.

When they need my help (and I am more than happy to give it) we sit down and go through things as long as it takes until we can get to an answer. Today I had a 2 1/2 hour long meeting with our warehouse guy on the putting together of a financial plan for his warehouse improvements he wants desperately. His goal was to have it done by the end of the week. Not going to happen. He walked away with about 20 questions he needs to answer before we can finish. Then I went to his boss and told him his guy came to see me, what we did, and how we left it. This was to not only let him know we were in the process of working on the project, but also to manage his expectations. Quite often people set deadlines and don't understand what is involved to achieve them.
