U2 is gonna play some limited stadiums including the full Joshua Tree album before releasing the second half of the Songs of..., and before completing that tour of arena shows. I don't think I can afford to fly to D.C. for the stadium show, so I hope they come further south when they tour Songs of Experience.

Yeah I just spent a fairly absurd amount of money for a ticket to the Seattle show along with round trip tickets on Amtrack and a hotel room.

Totally worth it - particularly since Mumford & Sons are opening and I haven't been able to see them yet, either.

At this time tomorrow (barring any Delta system crashes or Trump fuckery), I will be on my way to my second 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise. This year's lineup is pretty amazing, with a ton of bands I absolutely can't wait to see:

- Allegaeon
- Anthrax
- Amorphis
- Carcass
- Cattle Decapitation
- Death Angel
- Draconian
- Equilibrium
- Grave
- Haggard
- Kalmah
- Manegarm
- Moonsorrow
- Over Kill
- Revocation
- Scar Symmetry
- Serenity
- Suffocation
- Testament
- Trollfest
- Witchtrap

A little bummed that both Gojira and Nile dropped out at the last minute, but I suppose I need to actually eat and sleep sometime. :) Being out in the middle of the ocean with zero access to the outside world for 4 days sounds like maybe the greatest thing imaginable right now.

Love me some Blind Guardian, they might have been on a previous 70,000 Tons of Metal.

Skinypupy, have fun! That's an awesome lineup. Sucks for Gojira and Nile. But still a solid lineup.

Yup, Blind Guardian has done 70K twice now, iirc. They're way too power metal for my tastes, I skew more towards the death/black/folk end of the spectrum.

Pro tip: Don't get sick on a cruise. It really, really, really sucks. Dunno if it was something I ate or seasickness, but I spent the last 2.5 days (of 4) in bed, only dragging myself to a few shows.

Thankfully, the first 1.5 days were great. Seeing Amorphis and Anthrax back-to-back was incredible, even if the Anthrax mosh pit damn near killed me. Maybe the most brutal pit I've ever been in, which is surprising given the relatively small size of the crowd.

Oh, and if you even get the chance, see Trollfest live. They play an insane brand of folk/speed/black metal/surf trash that was utterly bonkers. Three words: headbanging conga line.

I went on a cruise with my wife last year and swore I'd never step foot on another.

Damn man, nothing worse than being sick and nothing much you can do about it other than wait it out.

LOL, of course. Yngwie was mind-blowing back in the day.

Debating whether or not do travel somewhere for the Slayer/Lamb of God/Behemoth tour that was just announced for this summer.

Saw him last year on the Generation Axe tour.
Haven't listened to his stuff in years, but he held his own against Vai, Nuno and Wylde, the 3 that I went to see.

I'm pretty ticked off that show in Denver is an arena. I'm not going unfortunately.

I'd love to see Behemoth and LoG and naturally Slayer is still consistently awesome.

Too bad, that's a great lineup.

I haven't listened to any stuff in years either. But man, I loved me some Yngwie back in the 80's.

I couldn't pass up a chance to see him in a small venue for less than $20.

Picked up tickets for The Tossers on March 17. Going to the box office saved me $6.50 per $16 ticket.

My favorite band, playing within walking distance of my local on St. Patrick's day? :horse:

I thought the free shows at the Abbey Pub were as good as it got.

New album out tomorrow. Not as good as Emerald City but it's a good addition.

TajMo June 6. I've seen Taj Mahal probably half a dozen times over the years, but this will be a first for Keb' Mo'. Looking forward to it.

Oh..wow. I saw TheThe open for Depeche Mode (don't judge me!) back in 1994. TheThe was awesome.

EDIT: Good lord, I forgot that I saw TheThe in a small club in NYC too, sometime in 2000...I'd need to dig up a ticket stub, but it was part of the NakedSelf tour.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

I've never been an Iron Maiden fan, but I'm considering spending $50 on a ticket simply because Ghost is opening. They were that good.

Pallbearer just announced a SLC show (with Gatecreeper!) in May. They're my #1 "must see" band right now...their Heartless album that dropped last week is incredible.

I bought tix last week to see The Who.

I know they aren't what they used to be but they are coming to town and I've never seen them. They came once before, just a few tour stops after Entwistle died. I was too cool to go see them at that time and I regret it.

The Who were my first favorite band, circa Face Dances era. It's not regarded as one of their better albums but I loved it at the time.

I'm really excited, I've wanted to see them since 1982.

Went to a CD release party for an artist based out of the Toronto area but that grew up in my area. She was really good. Had never heard of her, but decided to go on a whim and was really glad I did. She reminds me of Jack Johnson.
