Wow--that's amazing!

1) I think I failed to recognize only 11 or 12 of the riffs, even if I sometimes couldn't name the song without the hint,
2) It shows the importance of production--a lone guitar just can't do the sound as we hear it from a studio,
3) The best thing about this performance is the transitions (Van Halen to The Smiths at 5:37 was wonderful),
4) I'm convinced that BOC's "Don't Fear the Reaper" (3:48) is the best isolated riff of all time.

Two more music vids...both Bands Reunited. The first is Vixen and is from 2004. The other is A Flock of Seagulls and I dont know when it aired.

Vixen were hot and still are...Seagulls made me realize how much I love Space Age Love Song and more than that Wishing.

For the heck of it Ill throw in a great Van Halen song.

Very cool, but a 100 song history of great rock riffs without a single Bowie song? C'mon, man. Seems like Ziggy and Suffragette City would be no-brainers.
4) I'm convinced that BOC's "Don't Fear the Reaper" (3:48) is the best isolated riff of all time.
It's close, but I think that honor still belongs to "Sweet Child O' Mine"

Judging by the number of times it's been covered/adapted/stolen/parodied, I have to insist on "Peter Gunn." But I'll let it go since that's only marginally Rock n Roll.

(Sorry if I messed up the quote attributions there, this thread is tricksy.)

Yes, the movie is far more dark and cynical than the TV series.

Even though MASH is tied with the original Star Trek as the best show ever to me I have refused to watch the movie. Not a big fan of Gould and its just not MASH without Alan Alda and crew. Ive always heard its a great movie but I grew up on the show. I have seen tiny snips of clips and it dont sit well with me. That of course was at least 2 decades ago.

One of the verses from that Suicide is Painless song is pretty striking to me since I am a lot older in life.
The sword of time will pierce our skin
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger, watch it grin
Sad too and true.
