Really good guys. Prefer the earlier ones but they all sound legit.

Paris 1898. Superb video of a day in Paris. Some stand outs. The road full of carriages with fancy stepping horses on some. The boys playing with their boats. The steam pump fire engine racing by. And best of all something Ive only read about before but not seen before this...a moving sidewalk full of people. Why are these not a thing??

Driving in New York 1945. Fascinating that there is only 1 line marker down the center of the wide ass street. Cars parked to each side yet the street is fairly clear of traffic. No one is speeding and though there are lights at some blocks no one is really having to stop. People are walking across wherever they want it seems. Now days its one big jam.

The point is that the promoters of Diablo shouldn't be shocked ("You guys don't own phones?") when a crowd of Diablo (PC Game) fans boo your plans to only make the new Diablo on a smartphone.

I guess your point is that we shouldn't be upset, because they are just doing it for money and so that makes it not a mystery.
I don't think Daehawk was saying it was a mystery (regarding market), just that it was a total fart in the face to the Diablo 'community', and that they may regret turning on their base...

It's not the next Diablo game. It's a mobile Diablo game. Diablo 4 is coming to the PC - it was supposed to be announced at the same time, but something happened and the announcement was pulled.

OOhhhhhhhhh, I'm not following closely enough then. I swear that second video (laughing Mexican meme) implied that Diablo 4 was the mobile game... and that the poor fools thought it was going to be a PC game (which seemed pretty clearly something they would be ticked off about).

If the new PC game is just around the corner, then I don't see the problem with them also making a shitty mobile Diablo for other markets.

Development cycles are what they are. Blizzard is known for developing multiple projects in parallel. There were 12 years between D2 and D3. D3 was released in 2012.

The truth is Daehawk has a history of seeing things in his own unique way and sometimes it seems myopic when the answer is right in front of him. After awhile it's less about giving a man a fish and more about teaching him how to fish. And sometimes it's about acerbically giving him a hard time, because sometimes you're tired of it all.

From the internetz:

D2 sold about 1.7 million copies in it's first 6 years.
D3 is an order of magnitude greater than that, with as many as 14.5 million unique players at its heyday.
Overwatch has more than 40 million players.

I get that Diablo fans are not happy, and that's fine. Have at it. They don't have to be. If they are wondering why it's happening, the answer is right in front of them.

Well, for my part (going just from the information I got from the two posted videos) - I assumed (incorrectly) that Blizzard had dropped it's PC Development of Diablo entirely, and moved to mobile.
The 2nd video (I realize I mocking video made by some jokester) seemed to imply that the 'funniest part' was that the fans were still waiting for a PC game...

So, yeah - that's what made the 'angst' of the crowd (and Daehawk) seem like an obvious thing to understand.

Well that's just a douchey troll thing to do. I don't condone that at all. The mocking video, I mean.

For the record I am pretty much out of love with Blizzard in any case.

I don't play WoW any longer, I didn't get D3 until it was on sale (kids bought me the expansion at full price as a b-day gift, I think. I haven't finished it), I also received SC2 as gift on the same b-day and have yet to finish that. I own Overwatch from a humble bundle and have yet to install it.

I just don't find Blizzard relevant to my PC gaming needs any longer, so I guess it's easier for me to be objective about their motivations and actions.

If I had to rank their game IP for me personally:

1. Diablo
2. WoW (?) (Maybe, I am never playing this or any other MMO from them again. I will play the next Diablo, probably)
3. SC
4. Overwatch (distant 4th.)

If I've forgotten any of their IP, that's probably why it's not on my ranked list.

For the record, I stopped at Diablo 2 - and still have not opened my original WOW collectors box, never played it... SC and Overwatch - I also passed on. (well, I played the first SC).

So, I really don't have a horse in the game at all.

Sure. I think I was trying to express that out of all the Blizzard IP out there, Diablo is the one that I like the most, so it's not like I want more Overwatch/Wow and don't care what happens to Diablo. I care, sorta. Like I said Blizzard has gone from being a day one purchase of anything they release to mostly irrelevant to me. Still, if a new Diablo (not a mobile version) gets released, I'll pay attention to it and probably buy it at some point.

If the D2->D3 cycle is any indication (and honestly it's not, really. Each development is unique) then we still have another 6 years to wait for D4.

Thinking about this a bit more, even if Blizzard decided all the rest of their games would be mobile, I don't see that it's worth getting all that upset about. We aren't entitled to future games. People have to learn to be happy with what they have and less disappointed when the world doesn't work like they think it should.

I mean, sure - yeah....

But all they did was Boo. I think it's perfectly OK to Boo.

Diablo Immortal causing controversy even on the OO forums!

I just thought the videos were funny. That guy laughing with the caption "you had to see their faces at the announcement", I can't help it, gets me every time I watch it whether it's accurate or not.

Just a huge marketing fail. Pick you spots man. If they are working on Diablo 4, could you imagine if they had announced this mobile game and said something along the lines of "so you'll be able to play this great mobile game to get you ready for Diablo 4 in 2021!" All would be happy and even the PC gamers would have no prob with the mobile game.
