That's a window not a door. You could try to lift the door off the track. Or cut a hole in the glass to reach in and grab the umbrella.

I would find it amusing that an entire office have a single sliding glass door a single point of egress and don't have a budget and DRP for breaking the door. Surely no office is so completely useless that it could not function for two days, have no resolution or plan or the third day and still not be able to warrant breaking the door.

WeWork spaces are a bit unique, so I could see there might be extra hoops to jump through before breaking the door. But yeah, eventually you're going to be replacing some glass.

I get they are unique. We went open office some years ago and are working toward shared spaces and work back to laizen process over people, etc...

I don't get how you put that in place without a plan (budget) for what happens if that door sticks, which makes me think either the picture was a joke or the two days pondering was hyperbole.

It's still amusing though. Anyone who has ever lived in apartment with an sliding glass egress (we've call them doorwalls in Michigan my entire life. I had no idea doorwall was a Michigan thing until the Internet) or worked in/been to an office with a receptionist behind a window knows that is both a lock and a common accidental jam.

That is amusing.

When working at Maxtor the managers and senior individual contributors had the open-topped cubicals with doors (we'd joke that promoted folks would get "kinged", like in checkers, because these beefed-up cubes were still on the floor with the rest of us). Ostensibly the doors were added and the higher glassed-in windows added on top to allow for security and privacy. One day Jerry had come into work but forgot to bring his cube key and his door was locked. The doors opened with handles (not knobs) and the handles naturally rested parallel to the floor. If you could somehow push down on the top of the handle, from the inside, the door would unlatch.

There were about four engineers tossing stuff in over the top of the open-topped cube windows, trying for a lucky shot on the handle (all laughing and having a good time with things). After a few minutes of futility, I finally walked over and on the first try I heaved one of my volleyball shoes up and over the windows, directly on the handle freeing Jerry to get to work (and everyone else to collect all their crap out of his cube floor).

Security is a funny thing.

Model 5, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, Roadster
Wiki: Model 3
During an interview recorded in 2006 Musk referred to "Model 2" (later Tesla Model S), and to "Model 3". The Model 3 was codenamed Tesla BlueStar in the original business plan in 2007. The intended name was Model E, which was abandoned due to Ford's trademark on an electric vehicle it originally planned to release in early 2019.[57] Model 3, originally stylized as "Model ☰", was announced on Musk's Twitter account on July 16, 2014. Musk wanted the three current models to spell SEX, but settled for "S3X". In early 2017, after trademark opposition regarding Adidas's three stripes logo, the triplicate horizontal-bar stylization was abandoned and changed to a numeric "3".

I was taking a 6 credit calculus course in college and it was either Demi Moore or Jennifer Aniston that did a picture spread for Rolling Stone (that part is a bit fuzzy). One of the images had their photo with an integration of E^x next to it and I spent a few minutes trying to puzzle out why they were doing calculus for the article. It remember the day clearly because it's when I realized that I was going down a bad path; math knowledge was pushing out appreciation for better things, I needed to stop.

Butt stool. (The joke writes itself.)

I love how the vid tries to make walking around with an expensive metal ass extension look hip and cool. And you know the guy getting on the bus is going to be blocking the aisle while he futzes with buckles and velcro to get it off.

It seems unstable. Aren't you essentially on a narrow four-legged stool (two metal, two natural) with your whole ass hanging off the back?

I can see how you might achieve stability, but what happens if you lean back to stretch?

Also, it looks like the unsexiest chaps ever.

They slide up and down so they should have let them slide around to your hips when not in use. Could sit in chairs and on trains and buses then.

Probably more that when the occupant has collapsed and needs help, he'll be inaccessible without risking even more harm (throwing a fridge at him, or shards of falling glass.)
