I've had several goldens (although that looks like a mutt, or maybe a lab edit: looked closer and it's probably a golden in the summer) and they all did that. They all looked seriously embarrassed or ashamed that you noticed them drooling over your food.

Yep this is common behavior in Goldens. I have had several and they all did this. Although I did train them all to leave the room on command if they were bugging me too much. Most have a strong instincts to want to please their pack members and especially the alpha. With a little work, Goldens are fairly easy to train.

For the most part, they're mobile sensor suites that are programmed to patrol and alert human security if suspect activity is detected.
