I saw that earlier. I like how the article tells you this happened in China but then goes on to explain how the drought most of the US has been experiencing has led to an increase in the spiders here as though the two events are connected.

Yep.... never going to sleep again....

On a related note though, my sister had a beetle crawl into her ear when she was staying my uncle's RV a couple of years ago. They just yanked that sucker out with tweezers. The said it hurt quite a bit.
I need more help than you can offer.

Doctors say they believe the spider entered the woman's home while the home was undergoing renovations

Wait, just how big was this spider?

I'd go with a mesh net over my head or something. Those suckers will get into your mouth, nose, ears...

Small ones will get through the mesh. Plastic bag's the only way to go. ;)

I was expecting something a bit worse. Saline solution flushed it out? It's just a bug in the ear. Who hasn't had that?

Yeah, I got a tick in a far, far more terrifying location once.

Did you see the pics of it lurking in there? I always pictured Shelob as somehow bigger, but damn those pics were unnerving.

For real? I think I detect sarcasm there, but I'm not sure.

My sarcasm meter has been a bit off today since I've been awake for the past 48 hours.

Not being sarcastic really. Maybe a bit of understatement, it's not a mere fruitfly, but still.

Yeah I'm with you. It sounds uncomfortable for sure but in the end it probably feels pretty similar to someone tickling your ear with a blade of grass.

I have cats to take care of these things. They love to torture bugs. Then they puke them up on the bathroom floormat as a testament to their awesomeness.

I had a very large cockroach try to crawl in my ear one night.
I was majorly freaked out there until I saw what it was. I thought it was some large armored spider when I woke up.

I was mowing earlier today and felt something crawling up my arm. I looked down and saw a spider just as it went underneath the armband holding my ipod. I ripped that off only to have the spider crawl up my sleeve.

My son was at Boy Scout camp last month with one boy who has a level 11 fear of spiders and an autistic boy that will capture any animal that he can catch. My son was bunked with "fear of spiders".

One day son and "fear of spiders" are heading out of the tent when "Steve Irwin" meets them at the door of the tent with a fist-sized wolf spider, tosses it on "fear of spiders" and says "Time for you to face your fears!" My son, who holds a healthy respect for wildlife, said that it was about 6-10 second of pure horror and pandemonium while he was looking for the spider, trying to snap his friend out of his seizure state, and laughing so hard he was crying.
