A Christmas Story

Post by tgb »

I spent 90% of the money I made on women, booze, and drugs. The other 10% I just pissed away.

For several years we would host A Christmas Story party. So many in fact that we watched the movie in different languages to mix things up!
We got fun gifts from our guests, still have the Red Rider BB gun near the front door incase Black Bart shows up. Gave the small Leg Lamp to my brother this past year because his family loves the show too!

I always enjoyed the show growing up. One, it takes place in Indiana (and even calls out the city I lived in when I was a kid - Terre Haute.) Two, Ralphie was within a year of being the same age as my father, so it meshed with all of the stories I heard about his childhood. And three, while I wasn't born until the early 70s, that still puts my childhood close enough that it doesn't seem entirely removed from my reality.

Never really cared for this one, but I’ve also never been able to articulate why. Odd.
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range
