Woke up at 4 am when the alarm went off so my wife could get up and go to work. She is working a double-shift today for the second day in a row; so all day will be spent caring for the baby until she gets home at 11 pm and I can sleep a few hours before the alarm goes off at 4 am again tomorrow.

I am pondering whether to have a few beers this afternoon or to fast and visit the vampire in the morning.

I did, however, make myself my favorite breakfast this morning. Unfortunately, I now regret it since I won't be able to work it off -- very gusty winds today, and the baby trailer acts like I'm dragging a parachute even on calm days.

edit: I decided to install the new cable modem Comcrap sent me a month ago. I followed their instructions -- and got nowhere. The directions tell you once everything is hooked up, log into the Comcrap website to activate. Slight problem there...until it is activated, you cannot login to the Comcrap website! Anyway, it's supposed to be many times faster than my old service. I don't really see it so far. Baby is still sleeping, so catching up on shows off Tivo. When he wakes, it's back to the baby channel.

Got my favorite breakfast delivered: onion bagel with cream cheese and lox. Yum!

Then it was off to launch model rockets with the cub scouts followed by a few hours doing lounging around by the pool followed by a cook-out with steaks, chicken, sausages and hamburgers and hot dogs.

Throw in World Cup and game of thrones finale tonight. A pretty great day!

Hope everyone's having fun and enjoying themselves. Cheers.

I ended up working almost all weekend for an install we are doing tonight, so I didn't see much of my family yesterday. I came home and grilled out and we relaxed when I wasn't on the laptop.

This morning, my kids gave me a present (Bioshock Infinite) and then they headed off to the Farmer's Market while I logged onto work and continued to try and salvage this change.

Then the pictures started flowing in. From every member of my family with a camera phone. Of a cute, gangly young dog...lab/terrier mix, we think. 9 months old. A stray, been in the shelter for about 2 weeks. Very calm, very quiet. Everyone was in love.

So for Father's Day, I got another mouth to feed. Meet Stella.

At Origins Game Fair. Feet hurt. Tired. Dehydrated. Hungry. Waiting for flight home in 3 hours. But no kids, pleasantly exhausted and played two REALLY good games at the end.

Will pay for the break when the adrenaline runs out and I get back to work next week. For now, I just want to get home.

Went to Brickworld with my family today. Saw amazing fan built Lego constructions. I am amazed every year at the money that these people have invested in Lego.

Tonight is D&D with my kids and their friends.

Not a bad way to spend fathers day.

After we all got up, I made Leggo French Toast Sticks in the toaster for everyone (me, wife, daughter). Ate leftover pork steak from my parents from the day before (went to their place Thur-Sat to help out with a couple quick chores that they aren't able to do on their own), took kid to work, picked up Chinese takeout and a redbox movie (the Space between us), picked kid up from work and a couple groceries.

In fairness, I had thought I'd be at my parents yesterday too and not get home til later in the day so we did father's day last Sunday (had DQ for lunch, we all enjoyed and kid gave me couple neat craft show presents she found; informed wife she was giving me $20 into my gaming fund in for future gaming purchases... like a Steam sale coming up soon....)

Kiddo had a slumber party over the weekend. So my Father's day started making pancakes for 7 screaming 6 to 8-year-old girls, gathering and packing all their gear, followed by cleanup and repairs. But I did get to spend about an hour building Lego sets with her, which was great. Mostly just watching because she's damned good at it now.

Joining the crew of OO fathers receiving LEGO, I was super psyched to get this:

I was actually pretty spoiled this Father's Day, since I was also allowed to get myself a Monoprice Tube Amp System with Bluetooth 25-watt Stereo Hybrid with 4-inch Select Speakers, which I've been eyeing for a while:

To be clear I didn't get Lego, the kiddo did. I now know all the secret treasure hiding places in every Moana set. But it was still fun.

Looks like it takes the Russian version of EL84s. Should be pretty sturdy, although 25 watts is a stretch. Pair them with efficient speakers and it will be more than loud enough to tick off the bride.

That hybrid tube amp is, in fact, awesome. It came as a system with the speakers shown, and it puts out really nice sound. Not too loud, but I got it for work, so volume isn't really the priority. But it works as advertised, and from a purely aesthetic view, it looks great. The tubes generate a nice warm glow that matches the VU meter perfectly. It's pretty sweet!
