Google Inbox

Google has announced a new email management system called Inbox

Right now it is invite only. I want an invite. :D Anyone have one they can shoot my way?
"All I can ever think of when I see BBT is, "that guy f***ed Angelina Jolie? Seriously?" Then I wonder if Angelina ever wakes up in the middle of the night to find Brad Pitt in the shower, huddled in a corner furiously scrubbing at his d*** and going, 'I can't get the smell of Billy Bob off of this thing.' Then I try to think of something, anything, else." --Brian

They probably meant email notification of statements. At least, that's why my bank does. I get an email telling me that my statement is available on the website for viewing. The email itself does not have any personal information in it.

This looks a lot like the Mailbox app that I use on my phone and love.

And why would one create a separate category for these notifications? Why save them at all instead of just bookmarking the bank's website?

That I can't answer. I don't think I have ever once clicked the link in the email. I don't even look at the statements available on the website. I just log into the account directly to view recent activity.

But I guess someone must...

Given the prevalence of phishing scams, I never even open such emails. If I was more proactive, I would create rules to send them directly to the trash.

I still use them for reminders, but yeah, I'm not clicking on links in e-mails anymore. If I get text or e-mail indications of account issues, I call numbers from the main website link or the back of my card.

You should let them know they are defeating the entire point of having buddies who work at Google!

WestAmerica and Wells Fargo will both do it. With WestAmerica you get no choice.

EDIT: Right. E-mail notifications that your statements are ready to view.

Close. But they also have reasonable salaries, copious free time, and a lack of significant poker skills.

I downloaded that app a week or two ago because I specifically needed to send something from Dropbox as an attachment rather than a link, which it purports to do. (To do so from a computer would have meant GETTING OFF THE COUCH. Ugh.)

I couldn't get it to work. Specifically, it works fine for email in general, but when I click the paperclip icon, nothing happens at all. The dropbox app works fine, and they're both made by dropbox and share credentials, but it just doesn't do anything when I tap the attach icon.

I tweeted at them about it but no response. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong? I found a different app that let me do it (USB Disk or something generic, I've had it for a while but I had to buy a $0.99 IAP to enable what I needed. So yes, all told, I spent a dollar and like 20 minutes futzing with stupid apps rather than getting off the couch and getting my laptop. Leave me alone.)

You would need to have a gmail address to provide. My attempt to be stealthy backfired when it bounced to your Comcast address.

You might want to disguise your email there from the harvesters.

The magic paragraph:
All Inbox users now have three invites they can share. To give away yours, simply start a new email from within the Inbox app and tap the “Invite to Inbox” option that’s depicted by a golden ticket. You can then select the email address you’d like to send the invite to, and then tap the “Invite” button.
Thanks for the link, @Zaxxon!

There was a blast push. My first one got three invites to distribute. My secondary e-mail that got one of the first round has not shown any indication of additional invites.
