That's the best ending a pet can have -- to die in his sleep at home. RIP.

I am so sorry for your loss. But if your pet has to go that's probably the best way for it to go.

Sorry about your friend. I hope I go just as pleasantly someday.
Technically, he shouldn't be here.

I’ll just add my condolences. I’m glad your cats have found themselves in such a wonderful home where they were so loved.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, it's getting easier to deal with now. It was just awfully sudden that we lost Zilla, and for all his annoyances he was an adorable, charming cat with a purr that could power cities.

I love my cats. They are like my kids. Bootsie is closest to me, she is also terribly sick with diarrhea. She is like to die within the year.

RIP Lucas 12/28/18

Great dog. Rescued from shelter 17.5 years ago! Skittish as hell initially, but within a few months was our first "child" (literally - he was older than all my kids!).

For his size (about 80 lbs in his prime), he lived a looooong time.

Will miss him terribly, but quality of life was really bad in the past several months, and a really nasty episode on Christmas Eve made me realize it was probably time to take him to the vet. I have no idea if I waited too long or not (several people hinted that I did), but having never gone through this, I was hoping that nature would take its course. My biggest fear lately was that he would fall down stairs and get seriously hurt while we weren't there, and then REALLY be suffering.

Fantastic companion, "handsome fella", chill as F, loved LOVED the snow for some reason. Every time it would snow, it's like he became a puppy again! :D

Anyway, here's some shots of him in his prime. I won't share the most recent pics because it's a bit sad and depressing.

Got a moment and wanted to say we are both sorry. I know my wife would hate seeing the loss of a baby pet. We have always loved animals with all our hearts like most would a person family member. Im sorry for the loss of the little guy. These days are just so sad.

Best wishes on the days ahead

"Old" is, by definition, five years after my present age. If you need to know the number, just ask. (Currently it's 66.666.)
