Does anyone know if "Grand Theft Parsons" is a biopick about the original Grievous Angel, Gram Parsons? Why have I not heard of this movie?

Zilch for me. But fortunately I think this ends my longest dry spell of the year. I should be back in the game next week.

* In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great
This is a good one, and there's lots of Alex stuff coming in anticipation of the movie. The History Channel has a new one in two weeks.

How is Mulan? Is it a worthwhile addition to the Disney collection?

Sort of. You haven't heard of it because it's not very good. http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll

Odd, I've had The Thing and Spartacus on DVD for a while now. Different versions or something, I guess.

Witch Hunter Robin wasn't terrible. Don't think I liked it enough to buy, but if you like anime and haven't seen it, it might be worth a rental or something.

A question for those that bought The Thing...

I have the widescreen Collector's Edition that was released a few years ago, and I was wondering what the changes are between this new edition and the one that I have. In particular, any changes to the film quality itself, such as a better transfer, that sort of thing?

Oh, and I bought the Dawn of the Dead... preparing to watch it in a few minutes...
My LibraryThing catalog... a work in progress.

Killer Nun

From the Secret Files of the Vatican! Uncut! Uncensored! Unholy!

Legendary Swedish sex bomb Anita Ekberg (LA DOLCE VITA) stars as sister Gertrude, a cruel nun who discovers depraved pleasure in a frenzy of drug addiction, sexual degradation and sadistic murder. Joe Dallesandro (ANDY WARHOL'S FRANKENSTEIN),Lou Castel (A BULLET FOR THE GENERAL), Alida Valli (SUSPIRIA) and the lusous Paola Morra (BEHIND CONVENT WALLS) co-star in this notorious 'Nunspolitation' sickie based on actual events that took place in a Central European country not many years ago!

Branded as obscene around the world and banned outright in Britain, Killer Nun has been completely remastered from original vault elements and is now presented with all of its blasphemous sex and violence fully restored for the first tme ever n America!

Hmm, goes off to check Netflix...
Black lives matter!

Wise words of warning from Smoove B: Oh, how you all laughed when I warned you about the semen. Well, who's laughing now?

The version I have is plain-jane. I got it free (or dirt cheap) at BestBuy or someplace when I bought a copy of the horrible horrible The Thing game. Did I mention it was horrible?

I've not-quite-bought that DVD about nine times now. I keep walking past it in the local DVD store and saying "you know, one day when I have $30 I can't figure out what do with, I should actually buy that".

Still haven't done it. Really should.

The Spartacus being released this week is not the original starring Kirk Douglas and directed by Stanley Kubrick. It's a recent (this year, I think) miniseries done for cable.

Then that sucks, then. But I still want the original. Good memories of high school history class, if nothing else.
