That was their reason for buying up ThinkGeek to begin with, as I recall. They wanted to become sort of a gift shop for nerds.

Because they ran them almost as separate businesses. Gamestop carried some TG stuff, but the websites and warehouses (and presumably infrastructure) remained separate. They're now consolidating them. It's all in the article.

i'm pretttty sure the last game i purchased at a Gamestop physical location was either a used copy of Dai Senryaku VII or Panzer Dragoon for Xbox in 2007, when i was still collecting for the system. but i did partake in the sale when they were liquidating their used PC game inventory in 2004. got a few decent games for cheap (even if some were just the CD-ROMs and nothing else) ... i think i remember getting Project EDEN for $0.95
