John Peel, RIP

Forget US DJ's. This guy was the real deal. From Bowie to the White Stripes to everything inbetween, massively influential.

Apparently he fell ill suddenly and died of a heart attack on a "working vacation" in Peru.

I loves me the "Peel sessions" (well, most of it in any case) portion on the S&E re-release/remaster. I'm assuming this is that guy?

I had a feeling you'd be the one to post this, triggercut. Very sad day for music. He was so passionate about music, and such an inspiration for generations of music fans and bands alike. He'll be missed.

Oh, that's awful news. He championed lots of my favorite bands for as long as I've been a music fan, from Bearsuit to The Wedding Present. :(

Man this sucks.

To me, I always figured Peel was one of those guys who would never die. He always sounded so youthful on the radio - he had the most amazing radio voice, I coulda listened to that guy talk all day.

Very sad news indeed. He will be sorely missed.
