I think that as long at the meat between the two pieces of bread is a hot dog, it still qualifies.

Everyone makes such a big deal about American/Lafayette and they're fine and all but Nathan's and Leo's and 2/3rds of the mom and pop coney's are just as well and I don't have to drive through hell to get there and pay for parking for the privilege. There are exceptions. For instance, I've walked in to a mom and pop coney in Inkster and they charged me two fiddy for a boiled ball park frank on non steamed bun with warmed generic can of nacho chili that you'd get at 7-11 on it. That's a sure fire way to see me never return.

I eat BK a couple times a week as I'm on the road all the time and don't have time for anything else. Their fries... can use some work. It's way too generic. McD fries can be quite good as it's thin and not too oily. BK fries are only good if they are hot and salted right. Miss either, and it's almost inedible.

Favorite recent fast food discovery: the limited time KFC Waffles and chicken. Those waffles with syrup taste are delicious, MUCH better than any fries. Don't even need the extra syrup. Almost as good as those McD breakfast sandwiches with built-in syrup taste.

My major problem with BK is that the two we have in town are HORRIBLE. I've taken the chance with BK's out of town and had much better experiences.

I don't think they have the same level of consistency among franchises as say, McDonald's. I can go to any McDonald's in town and get the same level of quality. Same for Chick-Fil-A or Taco Bell. Both the BKs suck and feel dirty, slow, and mismanaged. Bojangles has also proven to be very inconsistent. We have one "good" Bojangles that feels clean and inviting. The other two are total dumps.

I agree. I love, love, love, love, LOVE Chicken McNuggets. But I frequently get ones that are cold or so old they have petrified. 6 months ago I switched to Chick-Fil-A and the level of consistent food quality and friendly staff is really impressive. I'm not sure how they do it.

I went to BK for the first time in years to try to Impossible Burger they debuted in St. Louis (it was fine, but didn't taste much different than a Boca Burger IMO). I was pretty disappointed in the fries. The last time I had BK their fries were all sorts of crispy and delicious. When/why did they change that recipe?

I'm pretty sure they inject their chicken with sugar water. It may or may not be holy sugar water.

They butter their buns for certain.

Both probably help keep the product consistent[ly dopamine triggering].

Seeing this thread Im always reminded of my wife. She loved the BK Whopper burgers. We always clipped the 2 for $6 coupons and I always did the survey and got one buy one get one free all the time. Ive not been back to 'our' BK yet . Its weird now in I see so many of the buy one get one deals at food places and realize its almost worthless to me as I cant eat two burgers or two sandwiches of any type now. Being all alone sucks in so many big and small ways. Not having 2 sandwiches is the least of them but it is still on my mind and brings up my wife's passing every time I see the ads and offers.

I've actually never had a conversation about them with any gay friends (with the exception of what's been brought up here previously), but if they are not suitably outraged, I can certain muster enough to cover them all. I too refuse to set foot in the door there.

I long ago gave up trying to base my purchasing decisions on a moral code, because the vast majority of corporations are morally reprehensible. Instead, I balance my consumption of hate chicken by doing things that combat that hate.

I am not so jaded to believe this is the case. I work for a very large corporation that is very ethically run and all employees are required to take all manner of anti-corruption, ethical code-of-conduct and other behavioral training annually. I've never seen any breaches let slide. in fact, I've worked for numerous corporations throughout my career, out of the 12 largest only one engaged in questionable activity (financial) and they were rewarded with the notoriety of one of the biggest crashes in the industry -- Exelon level of implosion. Their former corporate HQ was a giant hole in the ground last time I walked by.

There are too many consumer choices out there...companies are free to disqualify themselves from my patronage by publicly engaging in reprehensible activities. I simply cannot support any company that wears this level of shittiness on their sleeves. I've never found myself left wanting because of this policy.

My wife does a lot of professional work with printers making marketing material, and she has recently stopped using a printer that she knows expressed they would never print material for gay events, etc.
If a commercial organization's leader wants to make a statement about something like that - I think it's our responsibility to make a choice if the choice is so put in our faces.

Lots of corporations are corrupt. Lots aren't. Still, I'll take greed and fraud (the usual form it takes) over active hatred any day. There isn't exactly a dearth of cheap, unhealthy fast food for me to pick from, either.

You can always look at it another way. That $6 chicken sandwich you buy might be going to a corporation whose policies you don't agree with. It also pays the bills for some working single parent or kid putting himself through college who has nothing to do with those policies. Where do you draw the line?

It's too much trouble. Plus their Polynesian sauce is really damn good.

Out of that $6, 50 cents (or whatever) is going to support what are essentially hate groups. If I don't give them the $6, the groups don't get their 50 cents.

Good sauce isn't worth that to me. I'll give the $6 to the next restaurant over.

I stopped buying Sam Adams beers when I found out that Jim Koch donates to a certain political party that I don't like. It turns out there are other beers.

I stopped cheering for the Patriots when I found out that their owner and star player are golfing buddies with a certain prominent politician that I don't like. Since I never watch sportsball, it was not a huge sacrifice.

I stopped buying cars from a local mega-dealer whose politics I don't like. Since I've never bought a car from him anyway, that suits us both fine.

Things like that don't change the world, but they allow one to feel just a little bit righteous.

AFAIK Burger King is not guilty of any such transgressions, so I continue to eat their food once every few years and stay on-topic.

Agreed on all counts. I can and will base my purchasing decisions to avoid Dixie cups and Brawny paper towels to stop giving money to the Koch brothers, not eat hate chicken and not buy shitty crap at Hobby Lobby. And I do actually like a Whopper now and then.
