[Netflix] The Defenders - Aug 18, 2017

"What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome.

“I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.”

In terms of his Daredevil storylines being addressed in The Defenders, Cox remains uncertain: “In terms of wrapping up any storylines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t.”

Show runners

The showrunners of Netflix's Daredevil will return to lead The Defenders, the miniseries that will unite all the heroes from Marvel's four live-action Netflix shows, Marvel announced today.

Marco Ramirez and Douglas Petrie served as the showrunners for season 2 of Daredevil, which premiered in mid-March on Netflix. They took over for Steven S. DeKnight, who was the first season's showrunner. Petrie and Ramirez will be joined on The Defenders by executive producers Drew Goddard, who created the Daredevil Netflix series, and Jeph Loeb, who is the head of Marvel Television.

I have no complaints with that decision. I wonder what happened to Daredevil's first season showrunner, though.

Daredevil, in spite of his training, is more of a street brawler in many of his fights.

Iron Fist's fighting style is more reminiscent of Abe Vigoda.

Save yourself some time and skip Iron Fist. I doubt it will be required. The rest is absolutely must see TV. I also can not wait, to the point that I won't watch the new trailer to avoid spoiling any of it.

Only real spoiler is after the title screens at the end. The rest is footage from the other series. Maybe like one new segment.

I disagree. I think Daredevil season 2 and Iron Fist are what sets up the plot for Defenders. Luke Cage and Jessica Jones shouldn't have much to do with the plot.

I also think the hate on Iron Fist goes too far. It's my least favorite of the marvel shows, but I'll take it over most other tv.

I also agree. Iron Fist was very good compared to most TV. Not as good ad DD, but better than the second half of Luke Cage I thought.

I'm in the other camp. I found it often painful to watch. I thought it was terrible. There is plenty of shows on regular tv that I have no problems watching.

To each his own, but I think Iron Fist will be important to the Defenders. The main actor has said in the past that his character arc isn't completed until the Defenders. Plus (mild spoilers):

To be clear, I wasn't suggesting that Iron Fist wasn't important in terms of advancing stories and setting stages. It's absolutely worth it for that. I just really would have preferred a one-show summary of everything... it was the actual watching that was hard to do.
