[Television] Silicon Valley

Post by tgb »

How is it that this show is three seasons in and there still isn't a thread on a board comprised mostly of nerd and geeks?

I can't say it's the funniest show on TV, since it's the only situation comedy I watch, but it's consistently excellent, and every episode has at least one hilarious scene or line.

Fantastic show. One of my favorite current shows out there. Kind of like Entourage for geeks.

(and now you've gone and told everyone!) :naughty:

Yeah, it's in my top tier of comedies, alongside 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, and others. It's phenomenal.

Ha - I just searched for a thread on this last night, but only (amazingly) saw ONE reference to the show on OO!

Just binge watched all episodes in the past week...LOVE it. It took a few episodes to find their comedic groove, but oh man...love Mike Judge.

I thought I had made a thread about it early on. But yeah, brilliant show. The finale of the first season gave me pause, however, as the time they had spent on the circle-jerking seemed to go on too long and made me uncomfortable. I got the idea in the first few moments, but they seemed to go on and on with it.

See, I thought the circle-jerking scene (by which I assume you mean when they calculated whether it would be possible for Erlich to jerk off the entire audience during a presentation) was completely brilliant.

Don't get me wrong. I thought it was too. I just thought they had gone on way too long with it to the point that I felt embarrassed by it. I felt it had lost steam by them hanging onto that for so long when they could have shortened the scene and have it be more effective.

one of the writers wrote Disrupted which makes the show seem tame compared to what actually went on at Hubspot

I think that's part of the funny, though. They (Dinesh and Guilfoyle) start off on a (usually ridiculous, but hilarious) tangent, then mercilessly drag it through to some conclusion. From what I remember, they did this several times while something else much more important was going on in the foreground.

Maybe we didn't have a thread because everyone assumed everyone else was watching and thought it was brilliant and no words were needed.

That was my logical conclusion after looking yesterday.

Yeah, that's what I loved about it - it was a group of brilliant nerds attempting to solve a ridiculous hypothetical to the nth degree.

It was the discussion of the details of how to jerk off that inspired Richard's breakthrough in "middle out" technology. I went back and found the scene on Youtube; I had forgotten that this is where the phrase "middle out" comes from - Jared uses it to describe how he would be stroking from the "middle out" (of two adjoining cocks).

Still hilarious, by the way.

It is! So far, it has been 100% accurate in telling me my pictures are not of hotdogs.

I didn't realize it was a real thing either until the wife downloaded it and showed me while we were choosing between brats and hot dogs at the grocery store. It worked for the hot dogs too!

This app is terrible. I put mustard on my cock, stuffed it between two pieces of bread, and it totally thought it was a hot dog.

I know I'm old, so slow to catch on to these things by definition, but watching last night's episode I finally got what Gavin Belson's signature is all about.

I was a little cold on this season, starting with the premiere, but the second episode improved things. I found myself missing T.J. Miller's energy that he brought to the show though. The scene with the Tesla coming off the trailer was hilarious.
