OO Anniversary check-in
Looking at the '1st!' thread and seeing a lot of names I remember but who no longer post on here. Made me nostalgic for the "glory" days when GG and OO was full of activity. Things have slowed down here in the past couple of years but to me it's always been my #1 internet home.
Just wanted to do a roll call for those of us that are still here enjoying each other's company.
I'm here and plan to be as long as this board is around. Thanks to everyone who made this place what it has been for the past 12-16 years (including my GG time as well).
*raises glass*
Cheers.

I see what youre doing! Youre just trying to out the old people here, so you can force us into carousel!
Well do you ever get the feeling that the story's too damn real and in the present tense?
Or that everybody's on the stage and it seems like you're the only person sitting in the audience?

Still here. I left GT and thought about leaving here too but I stuck it out here. I dont really seem to fit in but I love having someone to type to and who will read my writing. Most real world friends are now no more.
So still here. No idea if that will last but I hope so.

Still have a pulse.
wot?
To be fair, adolescent power fantasy tripe is way easier to write than absurd existential horror, and every community has got to start somewhere... right?
Unless one loses a precious thing, he will never know its true value. A little light finally scratches the darkness; it lets the exhausted one face his shattered dream and realize his path cannot be walked. Can man live happily without embracing his wounded heart?

My daughter is 10. I posted on HERE when my wife went into labor. Holy fuck... And of course I was on GG as well.
Capitalism tries for a delicate balance: It attempts to work things out so that everyone gets just enough stuff to keep them from getting violent and trying to take other people’s stuff.

Weird to think that I've been at OO longer than I was in grades 1-12. What have I learned?

Re: OO Anniversary check-in
I still remember hesitantly posting on Gone Gold. Back then my social anxiety was such that even anonymously posting on a forum took an act of courage.
I've come a long way, baby.
I do want to say this forum has been an utter lifesaver for me. It's gotten me through good times and bad. When your social outlets are limited, the ability to come on here and express anger, sadness, or just some funny story is extremely liberating. I've never met most of you, but I feel like we're family. A really nerdy, dysfunctional family.

I've seen things...
A man playing a banjo made from a human butt
A giant watch with crab legs keeping time
A story of someone "wronged" in front of an ancient establishment...Comp USA
The promised return of the Dreamcast
All those moments lost in time like...tears...in rain. Time to die

Re: OO Anniversary check-in
I'm not always checking in daily like I had a few years back but pretend I log in when I lean over and see my husband (original member GG and OO) lurking around. I usually say to him, "What's goin' on with the guys?" No offense to the smattering of women here but we know we are outnumbered.
My relationships, sentence structure, views, ability to defend a topic, and life would be less meaningful without this forum.
Also adding today IS my wedding anniversary! And it takes me so long to post, several of you have chimed in while I was typing this shit out. Marvel at the speed of you all.

Same here, or less. I wonder what caused me to find or start posting at GG? I can't recall. Hard to believe I was only 17 or 18 I think back then. Weird thing is it seems like yesterday and I don't feel any different.Montag wrote:I was on GG for maybe 2 years is before it folded.
Really is amazing to have this amount of history with this place and you guys. I'm not a major contributor, but not a day goes by I don't check EBG and the PC forum. I don't know many of you very well, but I respect and enjoy many of you. For me this is the equivalent of a local club or pub. We may not hang out in real life, but there's always someone here to chat with or provide friendly advice. I don't think many other online communities hit this sweet spot of activity and long term members.
I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

I remember some of the gaming Ive done with you. A big amount of my Steam friends list is OO members from when we played Red Dead Redemption back around 2010. I also had fun with UT 2004 back in the day as well.
