I am getting nowhere fast with what we're doing. The "Plant Based" diet has yielded to "Vegan, Except Ice Cream" - and there are a lot of unhealthy things to eat while vegan. I want to find the motivation to get back to plant based, but it was damn boring in terms of food choices - and I enjoy good food. Between stresses for both of us at work and a slump in our relationship, we've both been looking for comfort foods.

Good for you. My last cholesterol reading was pretty bad, but so far I've only made a half-hearted stab at addressing it. My doc thinks diet and exercise will bring it back to earth.

I am having zero luck. I'm eating well under what I'm burning (I'm eating 1800/day), and moving around a fair amount. I'm eating well, not just 1,800 calories worth of junk. Net result? Weight gain.

So the scale broke around the same time my wife fell off the wagon and my stomach was happy to join her. We remained Vegetarian,
but oh, the foods you can eat without meat. We're desperate to get back on track and trying again.

Yup. In two weeks, I put on 7 pounds.
Most of it was the first week; I was in Napa for a work conference that seemed to mostly consist of wine tastings and fantastic dinners (with more wine.) Back in the saddle starting today.
Goal for 8-20: 180

Being a nervous wreck seems to be good for dieting purposes.
