It just feels like shredding memory foam defeats the purpose of using memory foam in the first place.

I was skeptical, but it works. It allows you to move around the stuffing to get the most comfortable position. My wife also has a Tempurpedic pillow that is just a slab of foam and it's not nearly as comfortable for me.
