Damn. Grew up on him and his brother's tv work and music. I hope the best for him. He said he watched it take his grandfather and his mother slip away to nothingness.

Maybe some of you forgot him. Partridge Family? Music? 70s teen heart throb?

I'm pretty sure 99% of this forum knows who David Cassidy is.

Damn shame.

Damn shame.
I read the title as David Crosby.

My mother's got dementia and it's challenging. I call her several times a week, and never know what I'll find. One day she we can have a relatively normal conversation and the next it's like nobody's home.

Well at least we're not going to have to listen to him complain about Shirley Jones or Danny Bonaduce touching him inappropriately. :ninja:
Technically, he shouldn't be here.

He's dead, Jim.

Never a fan of him or his music, but from what I saw he seemed a decent enough guy. RIP.

I was a fan of the Partridge Family, mainly the Susan Dey part. None the less I liked his music and thought he was too young for dementia. Then I thought about that and thought, no he wasn't, he's just younger than me.

I might have to fire up "Hey, I Think I Love You" in his memory. RIP, David.

Some girl I was trying to hit on in college had a poster of him on her wall. That pretty much told me I was barking up the wrong skirt.

My sister was into him and Bobby Sherman.

I looked up Bobby Sherman trying to remember his name. He went from music to becoming an EMT for LA County and eventually a Captain in the LA Police, teaching medical stuff to trainees.

WaPo
Cassidy died of liver failure a few months later at the age of 67 in November 2017.

Fans of the singer quietly mourned him. How tragic it seemed that he finally overcame a lifelong struggle with alcohol, only to have his final days tormented by the very same dementia that ran rampantly through the rest of his family.

As it turns out, however, he hadn’t overcome his struggle with alcohol — not at all. And his dementia was neither related to a disease like Alzheimer’s nor was it permanent. Instead, it was a temporary condition brought on by his alcoholism, a different devastating disease.

In an upcoming documentary from A&E called “David Cassidy: The Last Session,” Cassidy admitted that he was still drinking.

After suffering from severe memory problems and being rushed to the hospital from a recording studio, Cassidy spoke with A&E producer Saralena Weinfield to explain what happened. She recorded the phone call, which has been edited into the documentary.

“I have a liver disease,” Cassidy said, admitting that “there is no sign of me having dementia at this stage of my life. It was complete alcohol poisoning.”

This might seem like a surprising revelation, given that publicly Cassidy had maintained that he was dry. The singer addressed this, as well.

“And the fact is that I lied about my drinking,” he said. “The head doctor at the hospital, she said, ‘I believe your dementia was directly related to your alcoholism.’ ”
It's almost as if people are the problem.
