The BBC reports that:

Mr Kim died last week after two women accosted him briefly in a check-in hall at a Kuala Lumpur airport.

Malaysian toxicology reports indicate he was attacked using VX nerve agent, which is classified as a weapon of mass destruction by the United Nations.

There is widespread suspicion that North Korea was responsible for the attack, which it fiercely denies.

A spokesman from South Korea’s intelligence agency NIS on Tuesday neither confirmed nor denied a newspaper report that Kim Jong Nam was a CIA informant during his lifetime. His agency could not confirm “whether we have information about it,” he said.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Kim Jong Nam had met with US intelligence agents several times. “There was a connection,” the newspaper wrote, citing a person familiar with the matter.
