So many? This is the second I can recall. Surprised there are not more actually.

Not to diminish it but 2 dead and 17 shot this weekend in Chicago. A light weekend.

Perhaps he is not just referring to nightclub shootings in the US.
39 people killed in the Istanbul nightclub shooting. Dec 31st 2016
American woman among 5 killed in Mexico resort-town nightclub shooting. Jan 15 2017
Add in the Pulse shooting and this Cincinnati shooting and it has become a bit trendy.
Well do you ever get the feeling that the story's too damn real and in the present tense?
Or that everybody's on the stage and it seems like you're the only person sitting in the audience?
