Salvaged a split of the series with the Red Sox and won't see them again to late August I believe. Anyway, next up White Sox

Re: MLB Season 2017!
This guys is a problem.. We fans don't want baseball to fade from the biggest sport network out there, but it has. Other networks are probably going to follow. While I understand the players' positions, they are going to have to realize that their salaries don't come out of thin air, and if people don't know about baseball they are not likely to watch baseball and the commercials. The salaries players would get solely from stadium attendance would be a lot less than what they are getting now. For them to keep up with the NBA in particular, as well as the NFL, the pro game is going to have to change.
We shall see how all of this develops.....

Re: MLB Season 2017!
Uh how is that an economic move??? His salary is the same in the majors as it is in the minors. I'm not seeing what you mean here. As far as we can tell, the Dodgers want him to get more at bats which initially they thought he would get in the minors as he wouldn't start on the MLB team. But he's (so far of course) hitting much better than Pederson and Gonzalez, both of who play positions he can play.Jaymann wrote:That's an economic move (ala Kris Bryant) so this does not count as his first full year in the majors.Lorini wrote:Unfortunately Scully has seen many Giants wins. You know I thought Roberts would be an innovative manager, think outside the box, but I guess not as he's going to send Bellinger back down for weak hitting/walking Pederson and not put Gonzalez on the DL because of his 'never been on the DL' record instead of trying to win games. As if somehow games lost/won in April/May don't count as much. Sheesh.naednek wrote:Pyperkub wrote:Giants take the series in extras, and Bruce Bochy gets his 1800th win as a Manager. A sure fire hall of fame manager, IMHO.Lorini wrote:You there naednek?? You guys might want to look for some pitchers who don't walk people so much. We have a bunch but you can't have ours!
Don't forget... Doing it in front of Vin Scully too
We'll see what happens today.

I don't know the specifics, but the Kris Bryant (#FreeKrisBryant) situation had him staying in the minors at the beginning of the year two years ago to restrict his major league service time enough that he would be under team control for another year before being eligible for free agency.

He's playing today so I don't think that's part of it. It makes sense now, thanks guys. Honestly the Dodgers can throw so much money at players that the thought any player that they wanted would leave for less money probably doesn't occur to them.Jaymann wrote:This.ImLawBoy wrote:I don't know the specifics, but the Kris Bryant (#FreeKrisBryant) situation had him staying in the minors at the beginning of the year two years ago to restrict his major league service time enough that he would be under team control for another year before being eligible for free agency.

OK so can we at least get rid of the IBB stat as it applies to pitcher stats ??? Since there's now no way to blow that?

Harvey sent home without pay for violating team rules. Pitcher they brought up to replace him promptly gets lit up. F him.

We're not in last place! I have only watched like 2 games this season. I'm not feeling this team AT ALL this year. If they extend Terry's contract I'll jump off a bridge.

It's not impossible, but the O's and Yanks would need to go one hell of a losing streak with the Jays going one 10-12 game winning streakMoat_Man wrote:So... the Blue Jays... Ummm, it's like... Still early in the season right? Right?

Trust me, nobody hates the Cardinals more than Cubs fans, and we certainly want to beat them!Lorini wrote:Uh the Dodgers would like your team to beat the crap out of the Cardinals and keep them out of the playoffs, We hates the Cardinals!ImLawBoy wrote:The Cubs won the World Series last year!
It's weird, because the Cubs starting pitching has been terrible in the first inning. If we could just start games off in the second inning, we'd be doing much better. Fortunately the Cubs are in a weak division, so there's plenty of time to right the ship.

All you need to know about Super Two.Lorini wrote:He's playing today so I don't think that's part of it. It makes sense now, thanks guys. Bottom line.
Super Two status is all about money. If a player has something like 2.160 years of service at the end of a season, the arbitration clock starts as if they had 3.000 years, making the player’s earning power higher. Teams try to avoid this by delaying promotion to the major leagues, thus saving them millions of dollars on certain players. Super Two status does not affect a player’s years of team control/when they reach free agency, only their salary structure during their initial period of team control.

The Dodgers will be happy to pay Bellinger when it's time to negotiate. They are not going to keep him in the Minors because of money if he's playing well. The word 'teams' should be replaced with 'teams that are not the Dodgers'. The Dodgers want to win a World Series and will spend whatever it takes to do that. This is not McCourt's Dodgers.

Re: MLB Season 2017!
Sorry Cub fans but Maddon's crying about rules that prevent injuries is simply stupid. Is he the one paying players who get injured? Is he the one disappointed when your favorite catcher of all time goes out for the season? Oh no, we have to play the game the right way and who gives a shit who gets injured or how. Baseball is terrible with protecting its players, stuff that players do to each other would result in a season long suspension in the NBA/NFL but in baseball 'that's how the game is played'. And they want to know why the game appeals to fewer and fewer younger people?? Sure hope MLB doesn't listen to him!

I don't see them getting any better. Half the team is on the DL and the other half sucks. Travis d'Arnaud pisses me off the most. Went on the DL with a bone bruise. Seriously he's made of glass AND can't fight through anything. You're a catcher, you will get banged up... He did it by throwing his hand into a bat like an idiot. He's starting to remind me of Jason Bay and running into walls.Jaymann wrote:Just keep it up for another week - Angels rolling in this weekend and they need to fatten up.Octavious wrote:This season is a joke. Got tickets to see the Mets on African American Heritage Night. They are also giving away free totes. Tickets to the Cubs games are ridiculous and I'm not sure we'll see the Rockies this season but at least I have two of you NL people covered .

Hmm, haven't heard from naednek today, wonder why? Kershaw is the only Giant killer we have but he kills 'em good! Roberts is routinely pulling Kershaw after 6-7 innings and he's no longer complaining. Which is good on all counts. He makes more starts than any other of the Dodger pitchers we need to save him. When he complains the fans get mad at Roberts/Friedman and that doesn't help anything.

You start really wondering about umpires when Freddie Freeman wrist broke because he was hit by a pitch and the umpire says he wasn't, while Freeman is writhing around. Geezus.
