Kidney Update- Successful Transplant! May 23

Single digits went up to 65%+? That sounds incredible - are those typical results? Regardless, happy Nephronversary! (a term I just made up - doesn't even exist on the Internet!)

Literally the morning after that surgery my function was 82%. I cried like a baby when they said that; I hadn’t seen function like that in decades.

I don’t actually know if it’s typical. They always tell me I’m doing amazingly well so maybe it’s better than average. I don’t do much research because medical stuff on the internet can freak me out, and I’m incredibly self absorbed...I live in a bubble of how well it’s going for me, that’s what I need to know.

My donor is doing great, she says she has no noticeable changes and she's considering donating part of her liver to someone as an altruistic donor (meaning you don't know the person it goes to.)

my mom needs a new liver - if she's blood type A... (i volunteered but i have NASH, just like my mom)

Interesting timing. It was exactly 4 years ago today that I received notification that I was progressed enough i my kidney failure to be officially eligible for transplant.
