The Meal is pretty exhausted, so I will just say everything is still going well for both women. It's been a long, exhausting day but with the best possible results. The new kidney is doing what it is supposed to do and MHS is still a badass! Thank you for all your well wishes, prayers, generosity and concern.

Re: Kidney Update- Transplant Scheduled for May 23
The donor is doing really well (she's up and walking tonight) and MHS is in total beast mode. It took us longer to get out of post op than we'd have liked, but once we got to her recovery room she was shooing away nurses and saying things like "I'd like to try to roll myself over, thanks". The surgery is no joke and there's a reason she'll be in the hospital for 3-7 days to recover. But she's the toughest momma out there and nothing is going to get in her way.
Please feel free to share any social media parts of mine here. I had an exhausting day of balancing being present and sharing updates with the world. I brought it on myself as there are websites designed for sharing information with a group as "one stop shopping" for the updated, but I chose not to utilize that option. Instead I kept mine and Shannon's social media updated; sent personal texts to family, friends, and coworkers; fielded emails for folks who are less connected; and tried to make sure OO and a discord channel knew the gist of how the day went (if not all the details). I drew the line at answering phone calls, but instead will ask forgiveness tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for the warm wishes, prayers, and other support. There's a plush kidney on the way to the donor's home back in Baltimore.

Phew ok cool. Sounds like the best outcome for both girls. Does it come with a warranty? Rest up all. Life starts again tomorrow. Maybe MHS will be able to enjoy it all more.

Re: Kidney Update- Transplant Scheduled for May 23
I'm secretly glad game 7 last night was a blow out.
MHS, against all odds, got some sleep in last night and is in great spirits today. Doctors came by doing rounds this morning and said her progress is "beyond perfect". She could be released in as soon as three days. Her GFR (a proxy for kidney function) is 49. Pre-transplant it was at 12. She's still not got an appetite and the most physical activity she can handle is scootching herself upright in her hospital bed, but the nurses say she'll start eating once they get her moving around later today.
I visited the donor this morning and it was similarly good news on that side of the hall as well. She was picking at pancakes and had already done a few laps around the transplant recovery floor. She's still got a chance of being released today, but it seems that she'll be fine by tomorrow for certain.
Finally, we signed paperwork today for our realtor accepting the sellers' resolutions to our exceptions after last Mondays home inspection. Looks like we're on target for a closing date of June 18.

Hi all, I know Neal has been updating but just a quick note. I’m doing pretty well. Still in a fair amount of pain locally but I got up and walked around twice yesterday and intend to be completely mobile by the end of today. Hoping to be released this weekend. I’ve been off the pain meds since yesterday afternoon and the docs said I’m healing beyond perfectly. Thanks again for all the love and support.

Re: Kidney Update- Successful Transplant! May 23
MHS was released from the hospital today, 77 hours after the surgeon began the transplant procedure. We were told she could be here convalescing for up to seven days. Everything is absolutely perfectly on track. Her donor is also doing well and having a good time in downtown Denver. We'll all get together tomorrow (when the donor will get her new plush kidney pillow).
Thanks to everyone for your suppOOrt.
