Post by Isgrimnur »

HR
Ryan Reynolds is going to catch 'em all.

The Deadpool star has signed on to star in Legendary’s live-action Pokemon movie, THR has learned.
...
Detective Pikachu the character is a peculiar sort from the Pikachu set, a self-styled investigator who is good at finding things. Reynolds will play the titular Detective Pikachu.
...
The role is said to be motion-capture in nature, sources say.
Based on the game.

It's about time. I've been waiting to take Reynolds seriously as a actor and this sounds like just the vehicle.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing this. The wife, not so much.

it had both my favorite pokemon in it, Bulbasour and Psyduck, so I was really pleased.

Yes the plot was, convoluted. The first half is like, Hey, this is just like the game, And then suddenly it isn't, and its like wait, what what in the where now?

The world is ready for a Citizen Kane level Pokémon movie.

My kids called it terrible fan fiction. And they’re into that usually, and were really excited to see it in the theater.

soooooo much more could have been done with the premise of a live-action Pokemon film. Citizen Kane it! this one got to the point where 'stuff was just kinda happening' which is definitely the hallmark of bad fanfic. ...or bad fiction in general. or a story written by a six year old...

The kids and I enjoyed it enough. I'll never watch it again, but that's generally my goal with most kid's movies.

I liked it. Formulaic, but decent for what it was.

My kids lost interest rather quickly, and I can't say it held my attention at all.

This.

My parents have foregone films, as they've seen all the tropes, but I'm still in the mix for the variations.
