Re: Super Bowl LIII
I would have no problem with coaches being able to challenge penalties (or lack thereof). As long as they still have a set number of challenges they can use, I don't see it excessively prolonging the game.

Re: Super Bowl LIII
Patriots now favored by 2.5, would have been sweet to bet that opening line of Pats +1. But what does a +1 bet even mean in a game that cannot end in a tie?

It means that if the Patriots won by exactly 1 point, that bet would be a "push", and you'd get your money back but no winnings.

Rams gon' win and I'm betting them in the money line.
I thought spread betting opened at Pat's -1.5. Not+1.

Re: Super Bowl LIII
Time for predictions. I say the Patriots win a close game, since Belichick, teams never win their first Super Bowl (yeah I know the Rams have been here before, but not this incarnation), and the narrative of one more ring for Brady is too strong. Watch for some "payback" officiating against the Rams.

The Rams offense did their defense no favors. I hope the Rams coaching has made some amazing adjustments otherwise the Patriots are just going to start pulling away.

Re: Super Bowl LIII
The crazy thing to me is this game is 3-3 and I have no idea how the Rams have managed that. Is their defense THAT good that even with an inept offense against the Patriots in the Super Bowl the Rams are still in this?

Look, I hate the Patriots as much as the next guy, but that last pass to Gronk on the scoring drive was magic.

Re: Super Bowl LIII
I got an alert that the 4th quarter started tied. I tuned in at about six minutes to go when it was 10-3. I saw the Rams throw a pick. I turned it off.

Re: Super Bowl LIII
I stopped in a few times. I lol'd when I saw it was 3-3 going into the 4th. I rofl'd when I heard no one had even been in the redzone yet. Most boring super bowl ever!
That said, I haven't watched any football in years, and this is the first super bowl I even remembered was happening while it was happening, but is it me or was that some of the worst color commentary ever? I mean, I was like, wow, Boom goes the dynamite looks award winning comparatively. At least for the few minutes at a time that I had it on and unmuted.

The NFL was smart to stream the game on their site and post highlights almost immediately to YouTube. That has to drastically cut back on pirating.

Re: Super Bowl LIII
Pretty boring game. I generally like defensive games, but the low scoring seemed more to do with both offenses playing poorly. Goff was especially terrible, but Cooks should have caught at that TD at the end.
The best thing I can say about the game is that at least the refs didn’t make any hugely important blown calls.

I think it’s just you. Romo has a good reputation as a color commentator.GreenGoo wrote:I stopped in a few times. I lol'd when I saw it was 3-3 going into the 4th. I rofl'd when I heard no one had even been in the redzone yet. Most boring super bowl ever!

I always watch with the sound off, I can see what is happening just fine.
Congrats to the Patriots, and Brady is the best quarterback in the history of the universe. Now would you just retire already.

Romo is an asset in the booth.
I thought the game was fine. It was close (like always with the Patriots) and I was engaged until the end.

I'll chalk it up to tuning in during the rare moments of suckitude then. Stumbling, incoherent, grasping at something interesting to say. I don't have any specific examples, just random moments with the sound unmuted for a few minutes at a time.
Shrug. Didn't have much to work with, from what little I saw of the game.

Re: Super Bowl LIII
I think it was boring because this game wasn't a titanic struggle between two powerful teams playing hard nosed football. To me it was like watching an anaconda coil around a capybara, slowly constrict around it, the capybara slowly dies, and the anaconda slowly searches for the head of the capybara so the anaconda can slowly eat it.Ralph-Wiggum wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 11:51 pm Pretty boring game.
