An altercation where he both pushed (several times) and (lightly) kicked a woman. The allegations were known but no video had surfaced, and he lied to the Chiefs about what happened. I applaud the Chiefs for cutting him as soon as this video surfaced. He'll land somewhere after his NFL suspension is complete, but for PR reasons they clearly had to let him go.

They've known about the video since February. Waiting until we see the video to take action isn't something to congratulate them over (IMO). Especially when they had no qualms about drafting Tyreek Hill who was kicked off his college team for assaulting his girlfriend (punching her in the face, choking her, and punching her in her pregnant stomach). The Chiefs aren't paragons of virtue here.

They were fine with letting Hunt play for them as long as we didn't see the video.

Really? Articles I read indicate that this is the first time the video has been released. Up to now the Chiefs have only been going on the statements of Hunt and police bodycam footage.

The Redskins can add him to their growing roster of abusers. He can exchange notes with Reuben Foster about relationships and child rearing advice with Adrian Peterson .

They knew that there was video of the event. This is the first time they got access to it, because apparently TMZ is better at their jobs than NFL's investigators.

The hotel wouldn't release the footage to the NFL, they would only give it to the police, and the police declined to give it to the NFL. The point was that they knew what he was accused of doing, and they knew that it was on video.

They weren't interested in disciplining him over it until we saw the video. it's not like they found out about the incident yesterday, or that the incident was recorded. They just waited until there was going to be backlash against them to act. Which is understandable. I'm just not going to praise them for it, like they are honorable here. They knew about it and didn't take any action. They know what Tyreek Hill plead guilty to, and drafted him anyway. They aren't honorable.

He's not the GOAT - he's the Turtle!

Not mentioned in that tweet is that he has lost 211 yards in his career with kneeldowns. That's a lot of kneeldowns.

He kneeled down at the end of the game yesterday, only he rushed forward to the line of scrimmage before doing so, in order to avoid losing that 1,000 yard mark.

No posts on Mike McCarthy being fired as the Head Coach of the Pack?

Wow. That stunned me.

I expect Cleveland to hire him almost immediately, unless the Cowboys job comes open. I could also see a major College team making a run at him - maybe if USC hires a President soon or if Urban Meyer steps down (though I would expect them to kick the tires on Luke Fickel as well).

The writing has been on the wall for McCarthy for weeks. The timing might be a little bit of a surprise (though losing at home to Arizona? LOL), but the fact that it actually happened is not a surprise.

At least he's not kneeling during the anthem. That would be unforgivable.

The good: Adrian Peterson ripped off a 90-yard TD run. Longest Redskins rushing TD of all time.

The bad: Mark Sanchez is playing QB for the Redskins

The ugly: Colt McCoy broke his right leg.

And yet was still held under 100 yards rushing on the night.

I'm thinking as I watch the Eagles Cowboys game that whoever wins the NFC East will be lunch meat for whichever team meets them in the post season.

Edit: And due to a bad snap (and a missed missed Cowboys FG in the first half) this dumpster fire of a football game goes to OT

I always thought Sanchez struck me as a decent guy. That video helps confirm that. Too bad he wasn't a better QB (or played for a better team).

Why do they keep praising the field goal block of showing multiple replays demonstrating that picking up the flag was a huge mistake and totally screwed the Vikings? Wagner didn't make a great play. He committed a pretty reckless penalty that should have cost his team huge. Instead the officials look like idiots. Again.

According to Football Outsiders, the top 10 offenses (82-46-2) are
KC (11-2)
LAC (10-3)
LAR (11-2)
NO (11-2)
PIT (7-5-1)
NE (9-4)
GB (5-7-1)
CAR (6-7)
SEA (8-5)
ATL (4-9)

The Top 10 Defenses (68-60-2) are
CHI (9-4)
BAL (7-6)
BUF (4-9)
DEN (6-7)
JAX (4-9)
MIN (6-6-1)
DAL (8-5)
HOU (9-4)
LAC (10-3)
CLE (5-7-1)

I think that's the story.

But that doesn't mean that an elite offense can't be stopped by an elite defense, which is something people seem to say every time something like Michigan-Ohio State happens (which is where OSU torched the #1 defense in college football for 62 points, if you don't follow college).

That table doesn't really illustrate anything at all. Break it down to top offenses vs. top defenses and you might have something.

A good defense with a piss-poor offense might often struggle because at the end, the win goes to team with the most points.

I think it tells a pretty telling story. YMMV.

Top 10 Offense average defensive rank : 19.6
Top 10 Defense average Offensive rank : 19.8

It doesn't if teams with the best offense face a preponderance of teams with shitty defenses. This is why an apples to apples comparison would be more useful.

The Bills might have something to say about that.
Do the Bills have a new coach with the players almost in Coup, with a franchise tag choice of a guy whose always on the IR and... yep, still is...

Week 1 may have been the worst Lions performance from top to bottom I have ever seen. How low do you have to go be the bottom of the Lions barrel? I normally make it two weeks before deciding if I'm giving up on them. I couldn't even make it one full week this year.

We were embarrassed by the Jets in week 1 at home. What do the Jets have to hang their hats on?
I haven't watched a game since, but this Sunday, we'll see who is the bigger loser. I might make it point to actually watch Sunday's game. From listening to weekend recaps and being talked in to playing FF this year, from the sound of if Arizona or the Giants are the bottom the scrap heap, irrespective Ws and Ls Barkleys and such, all of which suggest that suggest the honors should go to the 9ers and and Raiders. I suppose at least the 9ers and Raiders are good enough to know if they suck out they get the top pics, unlike some teams...

One thing that such a comparison may fail to consider is how many dominant offenses there are these days vs. dominant defenses. Obviously "dominant" is hard to determine, but the current NFL world is undoubtedly offense-centric. So you might have 5 or 6 teams with dominant offenses, but only 2 or 3 teams with dominant defenses. Showing a comparison of top 10 of each doesn't really tell us whether a dominant defense can prevail over a dominant offense, which is the point I was originally trying to address, particularly when there may be significantly more dominant offenses.
