The 501st

So I have my first Troop to update you guys about. Maxwell Airforce Base in Montgomery asked the 501st to spare some bodies for an internal video they were putting together. They are in some kind of a video competition with a base in Japan.

Anyway here are a few shots:

And we were each thanked and rewarded with base coins:

LOL I hadn't noticed that! They did feed us pizza and beer (on tap in their galley) after the shoot. The Air Force really does have the best accommodations.

Thanks man! That means a lot! That Vader was badass though. I mean that's a $5500 costume right there. Whew!

Good question. He did that in the videos though so it's all good!

Thanks man! That means a lot! That Vader was badass though. I mean that's a $5500 costume right there. Whew!

Yeah, the Vader was good. And tall enough to boot.

The Tusken needs to spend some time outdoors getting that thing dirty. He looks like the Tusken ambassador to Coruscant. At least do some sweaty yardwork in the mask.

The whole group looks good individually but there are definitely different levels collectively. Very cool stuff though, I didn't know it was so organized.

So I don't have to scroll up (because I'm lazy...), the orange shoulder is the officer one? And you were able to wear it because there were no other officers there?

And I like your armor a lot more. It looks used. Definitely not armor that looks better all shiny.

Well in the Star Wars cannon, no paudron = no rank, black = private, white = sergeant, orange = squad leader. In the 501st you just wear what you have. I own two colors so that not everyone would look the same at troops but i was the only Sandtrooper today so i went Orange.

Not every establishment allows us to carry our blasters with us. Children's Hospital is one example. Schools are another example. Most troops carry things like electrobinoculars for these troops instead of their prop weapons. I am building a different prop for this.

I bought this fiberglass C3PO head off ebay:

And I have painted it:

And installed the working eyes (bad picture -- in real life the eyes have the right amount of light)

And I have audio electronics on the way to me that will loop his quotes such as 'HOW RUDE!', and 'OH MY!' etc. So the premise is that as a Sandtrooper I've found ONE of the droids I was looking for, but not THE droid.

That's pretty cool! I wonder if you could hook it up to an accelerometer so that if you shake his head and have him say those things. Would be pretty fun for those in its presence.

Are Stormtroopers any better at bowling than they are at blasting? Drill three holes in the back of C3POs skull and you can tell them you brought your own ball next time.

Based on how much I can see and move in that armor, I would say NO. lol

That BB-8 rolls on it's platform. The imperial droid, however, DOES roll around like it is supposed to. Another member also has a working BB-8 that rolls around properly as well.
