Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle is the frontrunner to direct the next film in the James Bond franchise, casually known as BOND 25, an agency source has told the Tracking Board.

Daniel Craig is set to return as 007 in the new movie, which is slated for release on Nov. 8, 2019.

The director previously told Collider that he’d turn down the chance to direct a Bond movie, saying:

They’re not really for me. The budgets are too big. I’m better working at a lower level of money really because I like that discipline of not having enough money to pull off whatever it is you want to pull off. So I wouldn’t be the best person to do those. No. And anyway, I’ve made a Bond film with a great stellar cast (referring to London 2012 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony: Isles of Wonder, in which James Bond (Daniel Craig) escorts Queen Elizabeth to the Opening Ceremony).

According to agency sources, ever since MGM pacted with Annapurna for theatrical distribution last October, the studio has been keen to hire a name director to replace Mendes, which is why the conversation surrounding up-and-comer Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) has cooled. While Boyle’s name is now at the top of the list, other veterans remain in the mix. Personally, I think Boyle would be a great choice to help Craig’s Bond go out with a bang. Here’s hoping the two sides can work out a deal.

As producers attempt to get the next James Bond film back on track, after the abrupt departure of director Danny Boyle, reports have emerged that the series’ longtime writers, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, have been rehired to produce a new script.

According to the Daily Mail, Purvis and Wade have returned to the 25th Bond film, having had their original treatment for the film set aside when producers opted to go with Boyle and a script by him and his regular writing collaborator, John Hodge.

However, now the planned 2020 release has had to be postponed, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson are scrambling to avoid further disruption, and the rehiring of experienced Bond writers Purvis and Wade – who have worked on every Bond film since 1999’s The World Is Not Enough – was almost inevitable. An unnamed source is quoted in the Mail as saying Purvis and Wade’s outline had been accepted before Boyle and Hodge came into the picture; they have now been given the go-ahead to complete a full script.

The difficult road to production on the latest James Bond film has hit another hurdle after shooting was reportedly suspended following an injury to star Daniel Craig. According to British newspaper The Sun, the actor fell while sprinting on the set in Jamaica last week and has been flown to the U.S. for X-rays, resulting in a suspension of the shoot.

The newspaper cited an unnamed source as saying that Craig was shooting one of his final scenes in Jamaica. “He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly,” the source said. “He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle.”

While it is unknown how long the production might be delayed, The Sun reports that filming at London’s iconic Pinewood Studios, which had been scheduled to begin at the end of the week, has been canceled.

It is not the first time that Craig, who performs many of his own stunts, has been injured on the set of a Bond film. He had two teeth knocked out during his first stunt scene for his Bond debut in “Casino Royale”; sustained a number of injuries, including slicing off the tip of a finger and tearing a shoulder muscle, on “Quantum of Solace”; and injured his knee during a fight scene for his most recent outing as the super spy in 2015’s “Spectre.”

1st off, I don't think she would be called a protagonist, as she was an antagonist.
2nd off, you missed the quote. It was "You could never kill me James, You'd miss me.", not to say that he would spare her life, but that he would miss her company.

Jame's reply of "I never miss" was also meant to be the double answer... Not only will I not spare you - but I will not long for your company either.

Long rumoured and no great surprise given the ending of Spectre, it seems that Christoph Waltz might indeed appear in Bond 25 as Blofeld. Reliable Bond reporter Baz Bambigoye got the tip-off from a visitor at Pinewood Studios who spotted the erstwhile Hans Oberhauser on set. Waltz apparently winked, "You haven't seen me," but said visitor decided to risk the wrath of SPECTRE and leak the news anyway. The fluffy white cat is out of the bag.

With Rami Malek already announced as the villain of Bond 25, it's not quite clear yet how Blofeld will fit into the latest story – and with no official confirmation of Waltz's role, his inclusion is still at the very-very-strong-rumour stage. If he is indeed back, at a guess we might predict a supporting role this time out, once again running his henchmen from the shadows (or custody) as he was, off-screen, in Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace and Skyfall.

The 25th James Bond movie officially has a title, with latest movie returning Daniel Craig as the superspy to be called No Time To Die. The pic directed by Cary Fukunaga is also keeping its release dates despite a couple of on-set setbacks, with the UK rollout beginning April 3, 2020 and the U.S. bow April 8.

The production of No Time To Die has seen its share of setbacks including a sound stage explosion at Pinewood Studios and Craig suffering an ankle injury that required surgery and convalescence. All the while the release dates have stayed on track.
