I think they Mets have to try and send Harvey to the minors or release him. He's just totally gone at this point.

Harvey refused an assignment to the minors, so he will be DFA'd tomorrow.

Figured that's what would happen. He will get picked up by the Yankees and throw a perfect game. This is just how it works.

I think Mrs. Nym is devastated we didn't attend Paxton's no-hitter. (The M's are her team.) I had asked if he she wanted to go.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Kris Bryant hit career home run 100 yesterday, making him the fastest Cub to that mark (besting Ernie Banks).

One of our home run guys, Turner, hasn’t played yet this season, and the other, Bellinger is flailing, so not many homers for us this year.

The Cub offense had been slumping, but the Marlins' pitching staff seems to have helped in that regard. Bryant started out well, but took a while to recover his form from the fastball he took to his head. He's hot again, though, and Rizzo finally seems to be coming out of his season-long funk. Oddly Javy Baez is leading the Cubs in home runs with 10, but given his streakiness, he could go the next month without one. This lineup should be raking, but has had a hard time getting going. Crossing my fingers that some bad pitching is just what the doctor ordered to jump start the Cubs bats.

Bad Marlin pitching didn't help us, we lost the series to them, such an embarrassing moment!

I mean, they showed up fine for both games - they lost by 1 run the other day and had a 6-5 lead in the 8th last night. It's just that the Yankees aren't losing these days.

Also apparently the Yankees haven't lost at home yet this year (at least, according to the ESPN broadcast last night).

Well now I know how naednek felt last year cuz I'm feeling it this year. I don't know if our season can be recovered. We will need a hella August and September to get back into the conversation I suspect. It's very clear the bullpen needs shoring up and relievers won't be available until the July trade deadline.

It's possible that no starter had a home loss. Although that 9-1 loss to Miami looks suspect.

It's still possible that no starter has a home loss (for instance, if they got injured before being responsible for any run). :)

We are still under .500 but we have a four game win streak, and just beat two of the best starters in the National League. I and a friend are going to the game tonight, they are offering $1 Dodger dogs and that can't be beat!!!

By the way folks, investigate the ticket agency on ESPN that offers MLB tickets. We got exactly the section I wanted at 2/3 of the price that Dodgers.com wanted, plus a third off of the preemo parking as well. That included fees on both sides. I'll never buy from Dodgers.com again.

Sidebar:

So the Tigers are re-building. Good.
They had "experts" on this morning talking about how this going to be a year with a series of sellers and discussing whether it's wise to sell early or late. Interesting discussion
They then went on to discuss the sale of Machado and Fulmer and Boyd and McCann and....

And now I'm lost.

Isn't the point of the a rebuild to evaluate your young talent and keep them while dumping your veterans when possible for prospects.

Signed, Still bitter they signed VMart and unhappy, if understanding why they signed Cabrera.

I look here

http://www.rotoworld.com/teams/contracts/mlb/det/

Names tossed around

boyd 2022: Free Agent stays
Castellanos 2020: Free Agent What will the market bear. Maybe stay maybe go
Fiers 2020: Free Agent What will the market bear. Maybe stay maybe go
Fulmer Eligible, 2023: Free Agent. The reason to trade him is the reason he won't have value. Stays.
Iglasias 2019: Free Agent gone if you can find someone to take him
Machado 2023: Free Agent stays
Mahtook 2022: Free Agent says
McCann 2021: Free Agent stays

I hate being stupid and it's probably contribute to be a fair weather fan but if you sell your most talented low paid guys under contract for the next three to four years aren't you just saying you are putting of the rebuild until you can dump every stupid veteran contract you made because "door is closing"

/signed I don't understand paying veteran salaries, but I guess it's only my money so far as advertising dollars go.

We have some relievers that I am sure will be available. None of them are good. That's a DeeTroit hallmark. Relievers come here to have their expensive contracts matched against the question "Why didn't they retire last year?"

Take your pick or all three:

Buck Farmer Arb. Eligible, 2023: Free Agent
Shane GreeneArb. Eligible, 2021: Free Agent
Blaine Hardy Eligible, 2021: Free Agent

We gave up Justin Wilson last year. I'd say he our good relievers.

I have't paid enough attention but I believe our good relievers of future is currently Jimenez. I've not seen his name mentioned on any chopping block news and if I did, I think what's left of the fan base after all the chips were put on Verlander/Cabrera/Martinez, I think they would riot.

We have this Kelvin Herrera. He's pretty good

The Royals are starting to win a little more consistently. I hope that doesn't derail the Trading Train that should hit KC soon - if they make it to August with Herrera, Moose, John Jay and Lucas Duda on the team they're doing it wrong.
