Whatcha Snacking On?

Post by Isgrimnur »

After stopping by a local convenience store, I picked up a bag of Sunflower seeds from an Austin company, Chinook Seedery. They had two flavors available. I passed on Parmesan & Pepper to pick up Hatch Chile. I liked them enough to order a sample case of their six flavors:

I look forward to trying Cinnamon Toast.

In the meantime, I will content myself with Cracked Pepper seeds from Bigs.

In an effort to cut down my daily calorie intake, I'm trying REALLY hard not to snack on anything.

I'm hungry enough right now that the corner of my desk is starting to look like a viable option though.

This is going to be Daehawk's new favorite thread. :D

I just had three Ritz crackers with peanut butter. The good stuff, from a local company.

I’ve been trying to keep my snacking to trail mix, and controlled portions at that. Kirkland Trail Mix from Costco is by far my favorite brand.

I allow myself to have three Jolly Ranchers a day. I currently possess about 10 lbs of Jolly Ranchers (as an exercise in discipline). I’ve got the basic flavors, as well as some speciality packs. One of my coworkers bought a bag of Jolly Rancher “Hotties”.

They are the grossest things on Earth. If there’s a worse flavor combination than Blue Raspberry Sriracha, I don’t know what it could be? Lemon Dog Shit?

I'm an idiot. I have two addictions.

1) Aldi have $.95 version of Girl Scouts $5 a box Tagalongs. So now rather than once a year, being stupid and spending $5 for a serving size I should never eat. I spend $.95 for a serving size of cookies I should never eat whenever I feel the urge at a store about a half mile from my house. While I'm there I pick up their scoop tortilla chips because
2) Once a month, when I Costco shop I seem to have an inability not to buy their Spinach Artichoke dip.

Water. It's calorie free, caffeine free, and...free.

I do keep a giant jar of pickeled peppers in the desk if I get peckish. One or two does the job.

My wife bought a trail mix at the local grocery store a couple of weeks ago. It was really good, little pretzels mixed in with nuts and other things. But it was also apparently their last bag and they don't carry it anymore.

My snack of choice is peanut M&M's at work. A little sugar and some nut protein.

I avoid Jelly Belly pre-mix packs, always one or more disgusting flavors in the mix. Since Target took out the tubes with individual flavors, I can now only get it at specialty candy stores, none are convenient so none get eaten.

Speaking of Target, they had a large amount of clearance candy yesterday. This included caramel M&Ms. 2 bags found their way into my desk. 1 bag remains.

Yeah, but then I have to invest in 10# of jelly beans to get the mix I want and spend $100. And it would probably only last slightly longer than the 2# mix from the candy store that costs $20.

That is why I get the small bags of M&M's. The bigger bag is cheaper, but once opened gets eaten much faster. I can resist opening a package, I can not resist an open package.

Peanut M&Ms are the devil. I can sit with open pound of of them in front of me at the beginning of a movie and they will be gone by the end. I won't even have had the pleasure of realizing I was "enjoying" them. Though I will feel the fact when I go to stand up.

This is also why I find that when I buy chips it's better pay $7 for a bunch 30 lunch bags of chips than it is to buy on $4 family bag. That family bag. Gone in a day or two. 30 lunch bags will last me weeks.

I recently picked up some Paqui Haunted Ghost Pepper Chips. I find that I don't generally finish the bag in one sitting like other chips.

I don't buy candy. I have one Werther's every day after dinner.

Nope, the cup is better than the egg. The ratio of chocolate vs peanut butter gets thrown off. Just like the leading argument suggests.

There is nothing special about the chocolate. It's all about the heavily-sweetened peanut butter.

They use heavily-sweetened PB in the standard cups but not in the eggs (and most other Reese's products - like the bunny I got that was off in the ratio too)?
