Getting an Old Pink Slip

So we are closing down our business and I am taking care of odds and ends.

We have a 1981 Ford F350 dump truck that I am trying to donate to a charity and I find that I have no idea where the pink slip is. Do I have to go thru the DMV or do I have to try to deal with who we bought the truck off of? By the way, I think that entity no longer exists.

Any ideas?

I wanted to sign over my previous vehicle to my son and couldn't find the pink slip (not in the safe where it belonged - duh). I thought I was going to have to submit a lost pink slip form. Then at the last minute I searched a file cabinet and found it buried under some papers. Note to self: Even if you are busy gaming take care of business first.

Many years ago we were selling an old truck and in looking for that pink slip I realized we were missing pink slips for several vehicles. I was able back in those days to just go into a DMV office and get new ones, but somehow I missed this truck.

Nowadays the California DMV is an absolute mess, with long lines on the best of days and appointments often being several weeks out. And their computer system is down several times a week.

You guys must be from another planet. I assume by “pink slip” you mean “title”. Never heard it referred to as such. To me “pink slip” always meant notice you were being fired or laid off. Which made the thread title rather confusing.

Same here. Never heard pink slip in any context except getting fired. I was so confused.

Pinks

Pinks is a franchise series of television programs on SPEED TV based on street racing, held at legal closed drag strips with a theme around drag racing. The original aired from 2005 to 2008, with the spinoff Pinks: All Out following in 2006 until 2010. The name of the show, and the tagline "Lose the race - lose your ride", refer to common slang of pink slips representing a vehicle's title document recording ownership, and the derivative street-racing phrase, "racing for pinks," meaning a race in which the winner earns the loser's car. (In California, until recently, the vehicle title was on a pink slip of paper.)

It's a good one, right? It was at the front of my mind because "Pinks, you punk" is what we say to each other when someone wants a benedryl.
