The Howling is the more iconic movie when I think about werewolves when I was younger.

To be honest though, wolves are not inherently scary to me so werewolves are kind of lame in general.

The Thing - 1982 version
Insidious (1st one IMHO is the best)
While feeding all the beasties out back I let a nice big fart. The smell followed all the way back to the house. It's like it was my baby and felt abandoned.

So I assume From Dusk Till Dawn is out of the question. But I think every teenage boy deserves to see Salma Hayek in her prime.

I think the original Halloween holds up well for being the first slasher film. It is pretty tame compared to the torture porn of the last decade.

Oh wow yes the Puppet Master films were fun in the early 90s. I rented them for that girl simply named Charlie.

Not a movie but I am going to give a shout out to Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House. It premiered on Friday and I am already 5 episodes in and pretty hooked. It’s a bit more family drama than standard horror fare but it has a genuinely creepy atmosphere and some real scares. Highly recommend checking it out.

I’ve been hesitant to watch that as I mentioned earlier that The Haunting is probably my favorite horror film of all time. It even surpasses the novel. The 1999 remake was so damn awful though that I fear any further attempts to draw on that source.
He won. Period.

It's almost as if people are the problem.

Probably best not to think of it as based directly on the book. The Netflix series takes place during two time periods, when the family lived in the house and how they are coping with what happened in the modern day. It's very compelling but does differ quite a lot from the book. (never seen the movie so not sure about that one)

I like Lady in White. It's more atmosphere than scary, though, but still a few scares. It's currently available to watch for free from Vudu if you don't mind a few commercials.

We watched Halloween ('78) last week. They liked it, but it didn't phase them at all.
